X-Men: Apocalypse Concludes First Class Trilogy; Delivers Dramatic Culmination for Four Major Characters!

A recent revelation by writer/producer Simon Kinberg regarding the upcoming “X-Men: Apocalypse” pretty much explains the hype that the upcoming movie is creating.

Speaking to the Collider, Kinberg admitted that Bryan Singer’s “X-Men: Apocalypse” plays an integral role in the X-Men franchise, particularly with the last two movies.

Kinberg says that the upcoming film will be the culmination of the First Class trilogy. The producer reveals that “X-Men: Apocalypse” will deliver a dramatic story and emotions similar to the last two movies.

“X-Men: First Class” was released in 2011. Its sequel, “X-Men: Days of the Future Past” was released in 2014 and featured the original X-Men characters in their younger versions in 1962 and 1973, respectively.

Moreover, Kinberg says that the film feels like the conclusion of the four main characters: James McAvoy’s Professor X, Michael Fassbender’s Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique, and Nicholas Hoult’s Beast.

The screenwriter adds that more than seeing the fate of these four characters head to an end, the film will be huge when it comes to physical scales and emotional stakes.

Despite the major backlash the film has received ever since it was announced, primarily due to the casting of new actors to portray younger versions of original characters, the team behind the franchise believes that the film will deliver and is worth watching.

Venture Capital Post reports that Lawrence’s contract will end after “X-Men: Apocalypse.” “The Hunger Games” star has publicly confirmed that “X-Men: Apocalypse” will be her final X-Men movie. On the other hand, Hoult and Fassbender have expressed their desire to reprise their roles in future X-Men movies.

Should another X-Men movie come up after Apocalypse, Lawrence’s Mystique is known for her ability to change her appearance resembling whoever she wants. With that, producers won’t be having a problem recasting her role.

The upcoming film, slated for a May 2016 release, will jump to the 1983 timeline. The time when Charles Xavier’s school is thriving, Magneto is trying his best to lead a new life, and Mystique is aiding her fellow mutants to escape persecution.

The fates of these mutants will once again intertwine when ancient mutant Apocalypse, portrayed by Oscar Isaac, comes back to life to cause destruction.

Apocalypse is said to be born nearly 5,000 years ago and is thought to be the very first mutant in existence. He is also responsible for the creation of the Four Horsemen — Pestilence, Famine, War, and Death.

Entertainment Weekly recently dropped three major spoilers regarding the film. According to EW, Magneto becomes one of Apocalypse’s horsemen after having his heart broken.

Fassbender goes on to explain that Erik is a Polish trying to live a normal life. He then falls in love, but the romance is just short-lived causing his world to shatter. Apocalypse then comes into the picture and recruits him when he is at his lowest point.

Another spoiler EW dropped is that Mystique will rescue Nightcrawler after finding out that he has also suffered oppression in Germany.

Nightcrawler’s origin story will also be featured in the film and Smit-McPhee assures fans that the storytelling will be faithful to that of the comic books — a hint that the teleporting mutant will discover Mystique as his mother.

In the original comic, Nightcrawler is the son of Mystique and Azazel. During “X-Men: Days of the Future Past,” Mystique found out that Azazel had been killed by Bolivar Task, alongside many other mutants.

Lastly, EW says that the upcoming film will see Professor X left with no choice but to teach his students how to fight because of the imminent peril Apocalypse brings.

EW reports that when Mystique learns that Magneto has become one of the titular villain’s Horsemen, she turns to Professor X for help.

Unfortunately, Apocalypse’s plan to destroy the world challenges the Professor’s plans, and in turn is forced to teach his students to fight to save themselves.
