The next expansion pack for the massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) “World of Warcraft” entitled “Legion” is about to come out soon and game developer Blizzard Entertainment has made known about it.
The developer just released the beta of “World of Warcraft: Legion” through a closed beta, which means that it is not a public testing but for limited users or gamers only.
In fact, the beta was made on a first-come, first-served basis because it was meant to test a barrage of new content, points out Gamereactor.
The site even gave a total of 500 keys for those who are itching to be part of the closed beta testing of “World of Warcraft: Legion.”
The expansion pack will be officially released by Blizzard Entertainment on August 30 and gamers of “World of Warcraft” can hardly wait for it, especially with the expansion pack’s new Demon Hunter Class.
Keeping the gamers questing
Over the last 12 years since the “World of Warcraft” has been released, the MMORPG has had five expansion packs to keep players questing.
These are “World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade,” “World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King,” “World of Warcraft: Cataclysm,” “ World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria,” and “World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor,” details The Telegraph of UK.
The success of the game can very well be attested by the more than 100 million gamer accounts created during the last 12 years, which means that “World of Warcraft” has been keeping players really invested in the game and continues to make a quest harder than besting the Lich King himself.
While the game is a subscription-based model, “World of Warcraft” still generated over $10 billion as of 2012, which only indicate that its players are very loyal and continue to wait for the game’s next expansion pack.
“World of Warcraft: Legion” is the sixth expansion pack and it will feature the return of the dreaded Burning Legion as they force their way through a portal to Azeroth, invading the lands with thousands of warriors.
The player character needs to master artifact weapons found in the deepest vault of the Broken Isles to fend off the Legion.
Blizzard also expects old players to return to the game with the release of “World of Warcraft: Legion” and also the new players too who would like to experience the world’s biggest MMORPG.
A good film based on a video game
There have been a number of films that were made based on video games including the popular “Super Mario Bros” from Nintendo, “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” starring Angelina Jolie, “Street Fighter” among others. For some reasons, all of those films flopped at the box office.
It is the other way around with “Resident Evil” as it was actually the movie that spawned the video game series, which have been the case for so many other games.
“World of Warcraft” just had its own movie entitled “Warcraft” and many of its millions of gamers, as well as critics, believed that it become the first good movie based on a video game.
The premise of “Warcraft” the movie is based on the “World of Warcraft” universe. It is about the war between humans and orcs.
In the world of Azeroth, humans are fighting off an invasion of orcs, who arrived via a magical portal that linked Azeroth to the orc’s dying home world of Draenor. The conflict is what fuels the struggles between the movie’s many characters.
Orcs have been familiar characters in “The Lord of the Rings” movie series and its spin-off prequel trilogy, “The Hobbit,” so viewers and fans do not need much of an imagination to describe them. And besides, gamers are all-too familiar with their appearance in “World of Warcraft.”
