But former Miss Missouri USA, Tara Bollinger, had another take on the cartoon character. She said that Wonder Woman is definitely a role model, but not because of her looks. She said that she never viewed the character as a pinup or an insult to woman.
She added that in fact, one of the highest compliments she likes to receive is being called Wonder Woman because that denotes strength, justice, helping those who are weaker, and also beauty.
Bollinger adds that for her, Wonder Woman is a symbol more than a model. She does not feel like she has to have the character’s looks or body type or attire but rather the attitude that she can do incredible things.
She explained that people may be sending the wrong message to girls when they don’t celebrate and welcome all female superheroes she believes that the world needs more in all shapes and colors.
The former beauty queen said that if people get hung up on just the looks of a character or a person, they diminish the other qualities that do need to be celebrated.
Bollinger is apparently not alone in her views of Wonder Woman. She and many other people believe that the UN took the character in because of what she stands for and not because of how she looks. She also says those who believe against the petition number more than 45,000 for sure.
