Without Nina Dobrev, ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 7 Prepares for a Much Darker and Sexy Show

There have been so many speculations regarding the plot of Season 7 of “The Vampire Diaries” after Nina Dobrev officially left the show at the end of Season 6.

Last season, they ended the story with Nina’s character Elena Gilbert being put under a spell that made her sleep permanently. It is more like Sleeping Beauty, but there will be no Prince Charming to wake her up.

Without Nina on the show, the audience can definitely expect a very different look for Season 7 of “The Vampire Diaries.” It was reported that there will be a big change to Mytsic Falls which could mean that Lily’s so-called family will no longer be trapped in the prison world of 1903.

Lily just made a pact with Kai by giving her blood to him. Kai then killed himself so he could transform as a full-blooded vampire. After becoming a vampire, Kai returned Lily’s friends to her. Apparently, he just hid them in a magically-cloaked warehouse.

After the big Kai and Damon fight, Lily approached Enzo to tell him that he is a part of their family. However, Enzo is not sure if he wants to become one of them.

The show’s executive producer Caroline Dries told E! News that this will be a bigger struggle for Enzo. She said she is looking forward to how Enzo will deal with Lily and her sons while trying to figure out who he is going to be loyal to.

If Enzo decides to join Lily, this will be a good plot for a dynamic Enzo and Damon team work. Hopefully, this will turn out to be a good partnership between the characters.

Other possibilities

Meanwhile, the last episode of Season 6 still shows a lot of possibilities for the characters. Alaric Saltzman, played by Matthew Davies, lost his love, Jo Laughlin. Then, there is Tyler Lockwood, portrayed by Michael Trevino, who broke up with Liv Parker.

Now that there are more men in the upcoming season, including Damon, the show will have a more intense storyline. However, it was reported that the show will not lack in the romance department. Stefan Salvatore, played by Paul Wesley, could end up with Caroline Forbes, played by Candice Accola. Then, there is also a possibility for Damon’s new love interest. It could be Bonnie Bennett since their grief over Elena’s lost could force them to hook up.

Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon, said he is very excited to portray the dark, sexy, edgy and volatile story of “The Vampire Diaries.” He even said that the start of Season 7 means they are going to revive the great storytelling the series showed during the first and second seasons.

Moreover, characters like Tyler and Jeremy Gilbert will be sent out of town to hunt vampires. Executive producer Caroline Dries said they already took a couple of scenes for Tyler and Jeremy during Season 6 but they had to cut it down because of the time constraints of the last season.
