Windows 10 is on the market and besides all of the wonderful reviews that have hit the web along with it, there is some good news for those that play around with the Raspberry Pi 2 device. The first Raspberry Pi device was released in the United Kingdom and has been quite popular with developers that want to create something with a single board computer. Raspberry Pi has just released a second generation board and according to the latest news, Microsoft is going to offer Windows 10 to developers with it for free.
Windows 10 is brand new and is supposed to bring some of those that left Windows back with Windows 8 came around and really screwed things up for consumers on a Windows powered PC or smartphone. It looks like Microsoft is also going to cater to the Raspberry Pi 2 owners and offer them an operating system to play around with. Raspberry Pi has helped young children learn to code and has been the center of hacking and do-it-yourself computer websites for the last few years now.
Those that have been using the first version of the single board computer often talked about the lack of Windows software support and it looks like Microsoft is going to change the game a little by offering it for free. Microsoft will support the latest version of the Raspberry Pi board by making a specialized version of the Windows 10 software that will be available through the Windows Developer Program for Internet of Things.
Microsoft announced that it would make the custom version of Windows 10 later this year the same way they offered the Windows software to those that are using the Galileo board from Intel. For the price of nothing developers will finally be able to make automation happen from the Raspberry Pi via the Microsoft Windows 10 software. The price of the newest board from Respberry Pi is just $35 and is reportedly up to six times the performance of the older, model B+.
Microsoft said that it will bring more information to the developers about the new version of Windows 10 in the coming months. This does not mean that you need to wait to buy the newest Raspberry Pi, but it does mean that if you are going to be developing with the Windows 10 software, you will be waiting for that. Other than this news, the Windows 10 software release has seemingly gone very well according to sources.
