When the HTC One M8 came out, it quickly rose to fame as one of the best devices on the Android market, all things considered. The device is durable, powerful, with a long-lasting battery life and a variety of extra features to satisfy the needs of anyone. HTC did a good job at marketing it too, especially when it came to community interactions. And now, the company is gearing up to release a successor to the device – but will the M9 live up to the expectations set by its predecessor?
The M8 was a significant improvement over the M7, and it’s expected that the M9 will follow suit. The device’s exact specifications are not known yet, however most rumors are pointing at a 5.2” 1440p Quad HD display, and the phone is running on a 2.7 GHz Snapdragon 805 processor. This type of configuration seems to be getting more and more prominent in the higher end of the Android market, and there’s certainly nothing bad about that, considering it works quite well.
If there was one thing people didn’t like about the M8, it was the camera – it wasn’t that bad, but it was significantly below the majority of other models in the same price range. The M9 is alleged to fix that issue, bringing a specialized 13 megapixel camera built on the HTC Desire Eye design. This is great news for those who more actively use their smartphone for taking pictures, and it could also help stabilize the M9’s position on the market for social media lovers, something which the M8 failed to do in the eyes of some.
The M8 wasn’t a cheap phone, and the M9 will probably cost around $500 or more for the unlocked version – but considering the kind of hardware it’s running on, and the great support HTC are known for, this would still be a good price for the whole package. Of course, everything listed so far is just speculation, and it’s possible that the actual M9 has some differences, and HTC may even decide to take a more experimental approach with its design. But it’s still a flagship phone with a specific position in the market, so it should adhere to certain criteria.
The device should come out in a few months, if the rumors are true, with a preview event allegedly scheduled for some time before that. This should give excited fans a chance to see whether or not they will actually want to get their hands on the HTC One M9 once it’s out, although from what we’re seeing so far, it definitely looks like the device will be a winner.
