Will Smith Reviving Sleeping Singing Career; Collaborating with Kanye West!

Hollywood actor Will Smith may be in the course of reviving his music career that has been in hiatus for 10 years.

The actor guested on the “The Late Show with David Letterman” on February 20 and when he was called on the stage, the house band played the instrumentals for his hit song of yore “Getting Jiggy Wit It.”

And instead of sitting down next to David Letterman’s desk which is what the show’s guests customarily do after being introduced, Will Smith walked to the band, picked up the microphone and rap along.

He even drew audience participation to his impromptu rap performance by asking them to sing with him particularly in the “na na na” portion of his party jam “Getting Jiggy Wit It,” reports The Cubic Lane.

Collaborating with Kanye West

His spontaneous rap performance in “The Late Show with David Letterman” appears to be the beginning of a rejuvenated singing career which has been on a sleep mode for the last 10 years.

Early in February, Smith said that he has been collaborating in the studio with rapper Kanye West and is also taking pointers from his musically-inclined son Jaden Smith.

During an interview, he disclosed that he did go into the studio with Kanye West because he thought about reviving his music career and wants to explore possibilities. He admits that he is not sure what he is going to do yet but he is keeping his options open and calls his situation where he has a creative ceiling to move around.

Smith also revealed that his son Jaden advised him to write about the things he does not like. He said that he can’t do writing and then stop because the thought would be lost in the process. Will said that he has to continue writing until it’s done. He admitted that he has not done something like that in the past, but he will try doing it this time around.

Electric sexual chemistry

After his impromptu rap performance, David Letterman was all praises for Will Smith saying that he could never be a rapper.

Smith insisted that David can because it’s in him even saying that there’s a negro inside of the host. Letterman then said in jest that he will be coming home one of these days and surprise his wife with it, soliciting laughter from the audience.

When asked about the Top 10 things he will miss about David Letterman when he leaves the show, Will Smith said that one of those will be their electric sexual chemistry together, having guested on the show for numerous times in the past.

Smith said that he is also going to miss how David tries to pull off his Harry Potter glasses at his age and how the wind whistles through that cute little gap in the host’s teeth every time he says Smith.

Will Smith has an upcoming movie titled “Focus” due to hit theaters on February 26.
