Will Golden State Warriors’ Splash Brothers Make a Splash in the NBA All-Stars

Golden State Warriors’ Splash Brothers Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson will both be playing in the NBA All-Stars this coming weekend. Not just in the All-Star game where they shall naturally be playing for the West, they will also be competing against each other in the 3-point shootout.

The Splash Brothers would surely get some minutes during the NBA All-Star game as the West will be coached by Steve Kerr, their head coach with the Golden State Warriors.

The backcourt duo is playing so well together with the Warriors so Steve Kerr has all the right reasons to use them together for the West team in the All-Star game.

Stephen Curry made it to the NBA All-Stars by being the No. 1 vote-getter in the All-Star voting, surpassing LeBron James. It will be Curry’s second straight appearance in the NBA All-Stars, both as a starter, cites Yahoo! Sports.

Curry is currently averaging 23.6 points per game and ranks 7th in the NBA in scoring. He is also considered as an MVP contender this season and the Warriors’ league-leading win-loss record of 42-9 is the main reason why.

Klay Thompson, on the other hand, made it to the All-Stars as a reserve chosen by the West teams’ coaches before he was promoted as a starter by Steve Kerr in light of an injury to one of his first five.

Thompson is bringing to the All-Star game his NBA-record of 37 points and nine 3-pointers made in one quarter on the way to a career-high 52 points in a Warriors victory against the Sacramento Kings on January 23. Curry only has praises for the other half of the Splash Brothers, saying that if Klay has a game like that, he surely elevates himself to another level.

Different personality but similarly humble

While the two almost share the same shooting touch playing for the Warriors, they are actually poles apart when it comes to their persona off the court.

Stephen Curry is the outgoing type. He is getting very popular and he is starting to handle it well enough. He is in fact hosting an Under Armour private party with Oscar and Grammy winner Jamie Foxx during the NBA All-Star weekend.

He is also endorsing a clothing brand which has a huge video billboard in New York’s Times Square showing him modelling the clothing and dribbling a ball. Curry admits that he’s getting the hang of fame and popularity which he did not know some three years ago.

Thompson, on the other hand, is a laid-back basketball dude. He remains down to earth as ever and says that he still can do what he normally does, saying that the only difference happened on social media and the national media coverage of the NBA.

Draymond Green, a teammate with the Warriors describes Thompson as someone who would rather be floating under the radar than on it because he is uncomfortable with his celebrity status. But things are now different since many people already recognize him so he can no longer walk the street and remain inconspicuous.

What makes the two very similar is they remain very humble and unselfish when it comes to team play. Green says that when the team’s two best players are playing with such attitudes, there is no way anybody from the team can be selfish.
