While Waiting for Iron Man 4, Fan Creates Laser Glove That Can Actually Hurt, More Details!

Iron Man has been an inspiring character to many, and not just because of his willingness to do what’s right in the most difficult circumstances. The technological advancements that surround the character’s activities have also been the subject of much attention from his fans, and it’s not rare that people would try to replicate one of his ideas or another.

In a more recent example, Patrick Priebe, a popular YouTuber who enjoys working on various inventions, has revealed that he had been working on a new type of gear that closely resembles the special glove worn by the Iron Man himself. And just like the original item from the movies, his own glove is capable of doing some actual damage!

The glove is able to fire an aluminum slug with a good velocity, and it can also project a powerful laser from the palm, along with a spectacular sound effect that really seals the deal. There’s another laser emitter located in the knuckles, although it’s not as powerful as the one in the palm.

The inventor claims that his main inspiration for the glove was “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, and he gave some details on how the glove was made. The exterior was made from aluminum, and was covered with primer, as well as metallic red paint. Candy red was used to top off the whole design, while the firing mechanism on the inside is made from brass.

He added that the choice of brass was not accidental, as it was necessary to achieve the smooth sliding motion required for the internal workings of the glove’s mechanisms. Priebe stated that brass is perfect for that purpose, and he seems to be particularly fond of the material in general.

According to Priebe, the palm laser is rated at 700 mW, and its nice blue color shouldn’t mislead anyone into thinking that it’s harmless, as it can actually pop balloons from a distance, and even leaves burn marks on wood, as demonstrated in a video. On the other hand, the knuckle laser is colored red and rated at 300 mW, but it’s still powerful enough to pop balloons.

The inventor stated that he needed about three weeks to finish the whole project, which some have noted is quite the impressive achievement, given the overall complexity of the glove. Priebe seems proud of what he’s achieved, and for a good reason – it’s no small feat and it’s already getting lots of attention from the media. Fans of the “Iron Man” franchise have been eager to get their hands on (or in) something like that, but it’s not clear if they will get a chance to find a similar glove on the mass market anytime soon.
