When game developer Kojima Productions said that players will have less margin for error in its upcoming open-world action adventure stealth video game “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain,” it was actually referring to the enhanced level of challenge or difficulty that gamers will experience with the game.
The 40-minute gameplay trailer of the video game at the recently-concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2015 at Los Angeles, California may have shown the enhanced degree of difficulty, which according to Konami is what makes the game absurdly attractive and exciting.
But recent releases of two videos from gamer and YouTuber Yongyea somehow gave a clearer picture of what players should expect with “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” when the video game hits the gaming consoles a couple of months from now, notes the Gaming Bolt.
“Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” will be hitting the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One on September 1. The PC version of the video game will come a few weeks later after the release on the next generation gaming consoles.
Tougher enemies and improved capabilities
Based on the two videos, Yongyea was able to shed light on the enemies in the game including the long-rumored Skulls. Apparently, when a Skull spots a gamer, there will be a reflex mode-like scene that shall feature flashing images before the Skulls attack the player.
The Skulls shall also employ some sort of special power as they can actually pull a machine gun from thin air and start firing at the gamer. In addition, guards have become a bit smarter in the game too. They are now shooting their guns into the air when they spot the player to alert the other guards of an intruder.
On the other hand, the player will have better controls and movement in the game too, which is better than the previous version of the game.
Cardboard boxes found in the game can now be used as cover too which makes it easier for a player to get into and out of cover. The player shall also be able to use a bionic arm punch when he is running by using the R2 button. But before the player can use the bionic arm punch, it needs to be equipped as a secondary weapon.
Support from Mother Base
Based on a report from the Xbox One magazine, the Games Radar has also detailed how the Mother Base in “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” lends support to Snake and the soldiers he will be Fultoning out of each mission.
The Mother Base provides support to the gamer by giving those extra pairs of hands which are useful between operations as each one can be assigned to certain areas and given new career paths.
Accordingly, every man on the battlefield is graded according to his usefulness to Mother Base’s different divisions. But some of these soldiers have negative skills too including that of being a troublemaker, or a boaster, which the player can eventually toss out later on and replaced with new ones from Mother Base.
