The rumors about Half Life 3 have started to pile up and according to one source, it could be because the developing company is having issues creating a game that will appeal to the gamers of today. Whether or not that is the case is irrelevant to those that just want to see the game released. Once the game is released, the gamers will be the ones to decide if the game is appealing, but it could be a little too late at that time.
Half Life 3 has been getting kicked around, but mostly by those that wish to see the next version of the game. While the company, Valve, has not been saying that much about the possible release that is not stopping gamers from coming up with long wish lists of things they are hoping for in the new game. Online there are plenty of interviews with those that run Valve over the last year, but none of them lead to a confirmed release date.
Valve has made some hinted comments at the third installment of the game, but since it is taking longer than it should, some fans are starting to lose hope that it will be coming soon, or even at all. Valve gained most of its popularity from the Half Life series, so many would think that it might be the top priority at the company. E3 2014 was the last time that a release date was even hinted at before and during the event.
Back in the day, gamers expected to see a game with single player mode and that was about it, but today, gamers are expecting to be able to connect to the internet and play with friends or strangers from all over the world. That makes things very different for those that are putting a brand new game together years after the original was released. A couple of the latest games from Valve follow those exact paths and that includes DOTA2, Team Fortress 2 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive.
One employee at Valve did say that he saw some studies on the game, but the gaming community did not trust those comments since that specific employee left the company many years ago. The art that was seen might have been something unused from a previous version of the game, so there still seems to be little to go on. For right now, sources are claiming that those with the power at Valve have confirmed that the Half Life 3 game is certainly being developed, but that is where the info stops.
Other sources are claiming that the third installment of the game will not be a first person shooter or single player only.
I would love to see a new half-life game that was single player only. I am currently in the process of playing half-life two again. It is a game that I truly enjoy and will replay over and over. If it’s not broke don’t fix it. Everyone is not interested in online games. Fans of half life are looking for a continuation of the original game they loved. All valve needs to do is make a decent single player game and toss in some online maps. That will provide entertainment for everyone.
