Rockstar are obviously focusing all their efforts on “GTA 5” at the moment, and they’re working quite hard to resolve any issues the game still has left from its release, while also coming closer and closer to the release of the long-awaited “Heists” DLC. And yet, it’s obvious they’ll have to start thinking about “GTA 6” at some point, and according to rumors, they have already been doing that for some time now.
Rumors claim that “GTA 6” only exists on paper so far, and the game is likely a long way off in its production – but Rockstar are apparently already toying with various ideas for the next installment in the epic series, and they’re currently trying to decide where the game should be based in the first place.
Each “GTA” game is defined by its location to a large extent, and while Rockstar have been careful to make each installment in the series unique, there have been certain repetitions and overlaps. With that in mind, it’s really hard to guess what they might decide to do about “GTA 6”. It’s possible that they will set the game in an entirely new location, while it’s also possible that they might want to revisit an old place familiar to the fans.
Some possibilities that have been mentioned in rumors include Vice City and Liberty City, as well as some real-life locations like Chicago and Portland. There have also been rumors that the game might actually be set in multiple locations across the globe, which would be a new development for the series.
But then again, Rockstar have been anything but shy when it comes to trying out new things with this franchise. “GTA 5” introduced an entirely new concept with its multiple protagonists, so just because no previous “GTA” game has been set in multiple locations like that, this doesn’t mean anything for “GTA 6”.
Another rumor that’s been mentioned more than once already concerns the game’s main character. Apparently, Rockstar are also considering a female lead for this game, although it’s not clear if they’re also going to continue the multiple protagonist trend from “GTA 5”, or if the game will return to the old style of having only one main character. In either case, it would be interesting to see the typical “GTA” protagonist portrayed as a woman this time around.
The “Heists” DLC is almost here as well, and initial reports are describing it very positively, as it will apparently deliver everything fans have been asking for with regards to the game’s online component. It took Rockstar a while, but it looks like the wait was definitely worth it.
