For the past two seasons, Blake Crouch’s novel has been realized on television sets by M.Night Shyamalan’s Wayward Pines, rather successfully. This science and mystery fiction TV series has been able to capture the attention of viewers all over the world. However, there were rumors of it not being renewed, for a third season, despite the fan following.
When fans were wondering whether they should move on or not. FOX TV’s head honcho, Dana Walden has recently approved of the renewal of Wayward Pines. In a conversation with TVLine, the Fox Television Group CEO said that she thinks there should be a Season 3 for the series.
She went on to praise the series as the number one scripted show of summer, and she feels it should come back for another season, despite the show having exhausted all of its source material in the initial season alone.
One of the explanations, as to why news of the termination of the show surfaced is due to the emergence of another show eerily similar to Wayward Pines, called Stranger Things. But unlike Wayward Pines, Netflix’s Stranger Things received very positive reviews.
While the season 2 of Wayward Pines didn’t make much of an impression, its rival received positive reviews and feedbacks from viewers and critics as well. Now, at this stage even though, people at FOX could have easily canceled the show, it seems they are willing to give it another shot with the third season.
This could be because the writers might have found a way to make the show a lot more interesting, and probably thrilling and aggressive. Elements, which fans will agree that the show was sorely lacking in both seasons.
The mediocre ratings of the thriller series’ second season lead to its comparison with Netflix’s “Stranger Things.” A report showed that both the science fiction series are in serious competition with each other seeing that the town of Hawkins made a remarkable season 1.
It even leads to the persistence of the mystery in season 2. It even suggested that Wayward Pines ought to be more aggressive in their making, much like Netflix, if they wanted to win fans over.
In an attempt to explain the creative changes, Walden addressed what they are applying for the forthcoming season. She said that she thinks that along with the executive producer M. Night Shyamalan, the first few episodes were trying to find their way, in a reset. However, she says that by the third episode onwards, the show hit its stride.
There are rumors that Abbies are going to dominate in the upcoming season of Wayward Pines. The concept of human evolution forms the heart of the storyline in the season 3 of the series. The Abbies are set to take center stage as more humans are anticipated to change into highly intelligent Abbey.
The evolution of the dreadful predators will be the main threat to human survival. The Abbies are designed to endure the most unfriendly of environments. The rest of the existing humans andDr. Theo Yedlin, are going to face most difficult battle of their lives.
So from what it appears, this season will mostly showcasethe battle between evolution versus survival. Two concepts which are supposed to working with each other, since time immemorial. It seems however, in season 3 of Wayward Pines, the evolution of the beasts will, in all probability bring the end to the lives of the humans, in the small town.
