M. Night Shyamalan explained then that he likes that Season 1 gave audiences a clear-cut ending while noting that he and Blake Crouch already have an idea of what they intend to do for Season 2 of the show.
The director and producer added that he does not want to reveal any information yet. “Wayward Pines” ultimately came from delivering several twists that were both exciting and over-the-top.
During the Season 1 finale, Ethan finally gave town creator and scientist David Pilcher, played by Toby Jones, what he deserved. Ethan killed him trying to protect the townspeople in a vivid scene that involved getting blown up in an elevator.
But the show left things wide open when Ethan’s son Ben, played by Charlie Tahan, woke up to a town run by the First Generation kids that pretty much reset “Wayward Pines” into the fear state that it began under Pilcher’s rule.
Because of that ending, critics felt that it was hard to tell if Season 2 of “Wayward Pines” will pick up where Season 1 left off or go somewhere else in the universe entirely.
There are threads in Season 1 that talked about teams going out into the world to explore the fallen cities and search for signs of regular humanity.
