‘Wayward Pines’ Season 2 Episode 3 to Feature How and Why Jason Higgins was Raised to Become the Leader of the First Generation!

The first two episodes of the second season of the American psychological thriller drama TV series “Wayward Pines” on Fox is off to a rousing start in terms of excitement and entertainment levels and it looks like the third episode to air on June 8 shall sustain the momentum.

According to the synopsis of the third episode of “Wayward Pines” entitled “Once Upon a Time in Wayward Pines,” a series of flashbacks will show viewers how and why Jason Higgins, played by Tom Stevens, was raised to become the leader of the First Generation, reports Design & Trend.

Back in episode 2, residents of the mysterious Idaho town finally received food as Dr. Theo Yedlin, played by Jason Patric, used his power as the only surgeon in Wayward Pines to finally get answers from Jason.

The episode ended with Jason and Kerry, played by Kacey Rohl, watching surveillance cameras near the fence and seeing no Abbie in sight. However, unbeknown to them, a blood-thirsty Abbie was able to evade the town’s perimeter cameras and is already eyeing the fence.

It would be interesting to find out if the Abbie gets through to the fence and into Wayward Pines in the next episode of the popular TV series.

Returning characters

The trailer of the third episode of “Wayward Pines” Season 2 also showed Nurse Pam, played by Melissa Leo, the sister of David Pilcher, returning to Wayward Pines.

In Season 1, Nurse Pam became a lethal threat to the town following her decision to kill her brother during the finale that resulted in the leader putting her back in cryogenic sleep. Nurse Pam was eventually banished to the outskirts of Wayward Pines and was presumed dead thereafter.

The next episode shall also see the return of Terrence Howard, who will be reprising his Sheriff Pope role. In addition, Toby Jones shall also return as David Pilcher and it would be interesting how he would react to the return of his sister whom he already presumed to be dead.

In a recent interview, Mark Friedman, executive producer of “Wayward Pines” said that farmer and historian C.J. Mitchum, played by Djimon Hounsou, is called The Duster in the town because he slept with everyone in the cryogenic pods but wakes up every 20 years to dust off the pods.

Friedman said that C.J. was the only person in the TV series who saw mankind disappear because he would get up every 20 years and turn on the television and see the news. One time, he woke up and there was just snow and all the people were gone.

Each character’s own arc

M. Night Shyamalan, the other executive producer of “Wayward Pines,” said that each character who wakes up in the show shall have their own arc and they will go through initiation in their own way.

So even if the viewers know or don’t know the secret to “Wayward Pines,” both sides would be getting information in Season 2 in a fresh way along with the coming in and out of the show’s old characters, notes the Christian Post.

“Wayward Pines” is regarded by critics as the welcome return to form of M. Night Shyamalan, who is also serving as executive producer on the TV series. He also directed the show’s pilot episode last year.

It is not yet clear whether M. Night shall be helming any of the episodes of “Wayward Pines” in Season 2, but he certainly returned as executive producer alongside Friedman, Donald De Line, Ashwin Rajan, and Blake Crouch.

Shyamalan is a master of the cliffhanger. He has made several films in the past that leaves the viewers to eventually find the answers to their questions themselves towards the last scenes without really explaining.
