Ubisoft Montreal has just released the latest gameplay walkthrough trailer for the upcoming open world action-adventure third-person shooter video game, “Watch Dogs 2,” and it highlighted several new features to make the game’s multiplayer mode quite interesting.
The updated multiplayer mode and the new bounty scenarios that were introduced in the game shall enable players to help the cops track down a hunted player in exchange for rewards.
But if the hunted player manages to evade capture for a certain period of time, he will receive rewards of his own, details the Den of Geek.
Back at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 held at Los Angeles, California in June, the Canadian game developer announced that “Watch Dogs 2” shall officially be hitting the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 on November 15.
In the trailer that was released for “Watch Dogs 2,” game protagonist Marcus was seen enjoying a leisurely stroll through San Francisco but is occasionally interrupted by various opportunities to hack the system.
Co-op and competitive multiplayer modes
“Watch Dogs 2” shall also have co-op and competitive multiplayer modes. A player can team up with a friend to compete co-op, accomplished missions, or rival off hackers trying to invade their game.
The latest trailer of “Watch Dogs 2” also gave a cinematic take on the game as it focuses on the new San Francisco location and features that everyday citizens use technology on the streets, as well as the seedy underground of hackers who manipulate these devices for their own evil interests.
It also showcases some iconic locations in San Francisco, such as the Golden Gate Bridge submerged in Bay Area fog, among several other locales. The development team at Ubisoft Montreal calls it the ‘wild west of technology’ and promises exciting hacking scenarios where the big tech companies of Silicon Valley are located.
The new protagonist in “Watch Dogs 2” is named Marcus Holloway, a young hacker accused of a crime he did not commit, which in turn forced him to go against the system. Marcus differs from Aiden Pierce of “Watch Dogs” in that Marcus is a lot better at parkour, and also has a unique arsenal of weapons and gadgets courtesy of a 3D printer, such as the RC Jumper and a tiny drone called the Quad Copter.
Playing in a non-lethal way
For those who are against violence, players can also play through the game in a completely non-lethal manner using a taser if they so wish.
There is also a lot more depth to hacking in “Watch Dogs 2” as players are now able to remotely hack vehicles for the first time in the series. As such, every character and vehicle in the game are completely hackable.
In a recent interview, Dominic Guay, senior producer of the “Watch Dogs” franchise says that the world of “Watch Dogs 2” is much bigger.
He explained that “Watch Dogs 2” uses an evolved version of the first opus technology. Through the many years in continued development by the Ubisoft Montreal’s Research and Development (R&D) department, they were able to improve the graphics of the sequel quite significantly.
Ubisoft found itself in trouble lately over the downgraded graphics in “Watch Dogs” and it looks like the publisher has learned its lesson for its sequel which is due to come out in the next couple of months.
“Watch Dogs 2” also feature stealth elements just like “Watch Dogs.” Players can use different methods to approach the game’s missions.
They can choose between the aggressive approach, in which they defeat enemies with firearms, or using Marcus’ own melee weapon, which is a billiard ball attached to a bungee cord also called a thunderball, and the stealth approach, in which they can evade enemies or paralyze them temporarily with Marcus’ taser.
