PlayStation 4 players who own “Watch Dogs 2” will now be able to play a mission that was originally a pre-order bonus, called “ScoutXpedition”, thanks to a recent update to the game. The update arrives after some teasing online in the last few days, and many gamers were already aware that the mission was coming for everyone.
The mission will actually be quite simple and won’t require any violent encounters, as players will be tasked with picking up a client and driving them around to take pictures of various important places. Completing it will provide the player with a nice advantage in their campaign, giving them more money and additional followers.
On the other hand, the game also got an update on the PC, introducing various optimizations and improvements, and making it an overall smoother experience. There have been some complaints about the game’s performance from many sides, and it looks like the developers are addressing them quickly.
One of the most commonly brought up requests by the community was for the game to run more smoothly on systems with a smaller amount of RAM, and that should now be possible with the new update.
Of course, gamers shouldn’t expect miracles and should still adhere to the officially listed system requirements, as the game does require a pretty good system to run smoothly. Hopefully this update will make it available to a slightly larger audience, as the various reports about “Watch Dogs 2” paint it in a very positive light, and it seems to be a game that more people should go through.
Those with more powerful systems will be able to take better advantage of them with the new update too, as there have been some improvements to the game’s rendering engine that should make its scenes a little more detailed on machines that can support that. The improvements don’t seem that many, so of course gamers shouldn’t expect their picture to change that drastically, but those with stronger systems should definitely check out the new additions.
Last but not least, the balance of online play has been changed a bit, with some balancing aimed specifically at the .50 Cal sniper rifle. The weapon has been quite controversial among players, with many calling for it to be reduced in power, and that’s exactly what gamers are getting with this update.
The rifle will now require a full magazine swap between every shot, and while that may seem like a drastic change, players should keep in mind that this has been one of the most controversial elements of the game’s gameplay so far, and it’s probably a justified change in the eyes of many.
The developers also stated that they would look for more opportunities to change the gun, so players should probably expect it to go down in power again in the future if it’s still too powerful. There’s also the possibility that they might backtrack on their recent decision to some extent, and we’ll have to wait a couple of weeks to see.
It looks like Ubisoft are trying to pay more attention to their work on “Watch Dogs 2” compared to the first game, and the studio has been enjoying better responses from the community for their efforts as well. Players are overall more satisfied with what “Watch Dogs 2” has to offer, and while the game still isn’t perfect in certain aspects, it’s a significant improvement over its predecessor and manages to execute some of the original ideas better.
