The 7th season of Walking Dead has already been done with four episodes. But the regularly appearing character Maggie Green played by Lauren Cohan since season 2 has been missing from them. The fans have been inquisitive as the 4th episode shows freshly-dug graves. Their curiosity is if one of them is for Green.
This was, however, just a trap to throw Negan and his team to lose track of the scent and give more time to Maggie and Sasha to hide from the killer of their husband and to-be boyfriend.
The last that the viewers saw of the two was when they were on their way to the hilltop in search of medical supplies to take care of the complications surrounding her pregnancy. Sasha accompanies her, and they are still speculated to be on their way successfully. However, comic fans are thought to know more than just that.
According to the plot of the comic book, Maggie becomes the leader of the Hilltop Colony. But this doesn’t come easily to her. The current head of the colony, Gregory tries to poison Maggie but unsuccessful.
If the plot of the show follows the plotline of the comic, then Maggie will win through another deadly attack. She will play a significant role in the war against Negan and his troop by joining the Kingdom and Alexandria. This also gives out the fact that there is war expected anytime soon on the show.
The show has been known to follow the plot of the comic book carefully but decompressing a comic book into a full-length episode requires some creativity. Incidents and details are often added which is why some changes can be expected.
Walking Dead has chosen to focus on cruelty in the absence of a progression in the narrative. Just as critical view suggests that a war film indicates that war might be exciting to engage in, cruelty faces a similar critique. It seems like the maker is advocating for cruelty which requires a lot of effort to avoid.
The 4th episode of the season was 90 minutes long which would’ve made the viewers speculate that there would be a big development in the plot of the show.
But that not being the case, the episode was more like a first recap of the happy moments of the series which could’ve easily been covered in 60 minutes. The sort-of recap talks about and celebrates the hold that Negan and his followers have up till now.
If one reads through the plot of the comic book and the show as well, the inference that is drawn is that the show revolves around Negan and his world. It talks about the people who live in and interact with his world.
Enough study is being done on the character of Negan due to the drop in the ratings of the show. He has been called a fascist, cruel and ruthless. His attitude impresses him and makes him attracted to his way.
He is believed to be scary and gory in every way possible. But this is not a view shared by all. Many believe that he is a disgusting character but not a villain who will make the viewers fear him.
