“Fast & Furious 7” will open on theaters on April 3 but days before its actual showing, Vin Diesel was already talking about “Fast & Furious 8” on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The action star revealed that aside from the fact that the next sequel to the very successful “Fast and the Furious” film franchise will be set in New York City, it shall also have a more meaty role for veteran actor Kurt Russell, who makes his debut in “Fast & Furious 7,” cites Cinema Blend.
If one is to factor in the crowded city of New York to the kind of fast cars and driving that “Fast & Furious” films have been known for, it looks way off. But that would be the beauty and thrill of the “Fast & Furious 8,” according to Vin Diesel. It would be the first time that the franchise would have the Big Apple as its location.
In a very recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel in the self-titled talk show, Vin Diesel primarily went on to promote “Fast & Furious 7” by talking about insane stunts, cars dropping out of airplanes, and his love for the late Paul Walker.
A glimpse of the future
When the subject about Kurt Russell was mentioned by Jimmy Kimmel, that’s when Vin Diesel started talking about “Fast & Furious 8.” He said that Russell was taken in into the movie because the objective was to make more movies with him on it.
Diesel even hinted that it would be a trilogy starting from “Fast & Furious 7” so fans should not just be looking at the eighth but most likely the ninth installment of the franchise sometime into the future.
Russell has taken on the role of a government agent in “Fast & Furious 7” with a creepy name Mr. Nobody. He has taken on the role that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson previous took on in “Fast & Furious 5,” only to become part of Dominic Torreto’s gang later on.
Various locations
The film franchise has had many different locations in the course of seven movies in a span of 15 years including London, Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo and a lot more. But it would be the first time that Dominic Torreto’s gang would wreak havoc in the jungles of New York City and that is sure to excite and thrill fans to no end.
“Fast & Furious 7” starts from the ending of the sixth installment of the franchise. The gang was almost back to their normal lives when the older brother of Owen Shaw, previously played in “Fast & Furious 6” by Luke Evans, came back to haunt them one by one. Deckard Shaw, played by Jason Statham, is out to get some revenge for his brother and that’s where all the slam-bang action begins.
In addition to Vin Diesel and Paul Walker (shades of him in most parts of the film actually), the other returning cast members include Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludarcris, Dwayne Johnson and Lucas Black. Statham and Russell play the antagonists’ role. Other stars in the movie include Tony Jaa, Djimon Hounsou, Nathalie Emmanuel and Ronda Rousey.
