‘Vikings’ Season 4B to See Ivar the Boneless Gradually Replacing Ragnar Lothbrok as the Ruler of Kattegat!

The long-in-hiatus Season 4 of the historical drama TV series “Vikings” on the History Channel will finally air its second half on November 30.

Based on the official synopsis and latest trailer of the upcoming episode 11 of “Vikings” Season 4, Ivar the Boneless, played by Alex Hogh Andersen, shall gradually take the mantle of leadership of Kattegat from his father Ragnar Lothbrok, played by Travis Fimmel.

While previous speculations were saying that it would be Ragnar’s first-born son Bjorn Ironside, played by Alexander Ludwig, who shall be the next leader of the Vikings, it seems clear now that the title will go to the strongest among the sons of the Norse king and that is no other than Ivar.

Based on the preview of Season 4B of “Vikings,” Ragnar will encourage his son Ivar to be his successor and the Norse king will work on imparting his knowledge to Ivar on how to become an effective ruler of his people, reports Headlines & Global News.

The midseason premiere of “Vikings” shall also see Ragnar Lothbrok returning to Kattegat after a self-imposed hiatus following his defeat in the hands of his brother Rollo, played by Clive Standen, during their second raid of Paris.

After the midseason finale of “Vikings” Season 4 in April, nobody knows what happened to Ragnar. Apparently, he will return as a defeated man into Kattegat and would find himself unwanted by his sons and also disrespected by his people, cites Game & Guide.

A Viking at heart

Based on another teaser of the second half of “Vikings” Season 4 released recently, it seems that Rollo will come to a realization that he is still a Viking despite being in Paris to join Charles.

In a promo released recently, Rollo was shown regretting his decision and was even quoted as saying that he cannot deny that part of him is still a Viking no matter how he hard he tries to get rid of it.

In a recent interview, actor Clive Standen said that the time of Rollo’s life is where he left his Viking gods behind for a long time and it is time for him to see whether he made the right decision or not.

The actor added that Rollo is now undergoing mid-life crisis so he is hedging his best between the two sets of gods – his Viking gods and the Christian gods.

There are even reports saying that Rollo might decide to return to his roots in Kattegat and work together with his brother King Ragnar Lothbrok.

However, based on previous episodes, it looks like the alliance of Rollo and Ragnar will not happen at all since Rollo already betrayed his brother twice and also nearly killed him during the second battle of Paris. The defeat in the hands of his brother Rollo forced Ragnar to do some soul-searching and leave his throne in Kattegat to Queen Aslaug, played by Alyssa Sutherland.

Another trailer of “Vikings” Season 4B also showed the showdown between Lagertha, played by Katheryn Winnick, and Queen Aslaug as both Viking women challenge each other.

When Aslaug reminds the Vikings shieldmaiden that she is the queen, Lagertha said that Aslaug will never be Queen of Kattegat because she never forgets anything.

Still to be part of Season 5

Contrary to previous reports before the start of Season 4 of “Vikings” early this year that the current fourth season would see the death of King Ragnar, showrunner Michael Hirst just confirmed that the Norse king will still be alive in the fifth season of the show.

In a recent interview, Travis Fimmel and Gustaf Skarsgard, who plays Floki in “Vikings,” said that the second half of the fourth season would be shocking and that there will be big events coming that viewers should really watch out for.
