The History Channel has not yet given a specific premiere date when the historical drama will return, but fans are already anticipating what will happen to the characters.
The show has received a massive following since its birth. The fourth season proved to be an upgrade as it consisted of 20 episodes compared to the usual 10 per season.
Episode 10 aired last April and the History Channel has not yet announced episode titles for the second season. The show has also been renewed for a fifth season consisting of 20 episodes.
Before the show went on a long hiatus, Clive Standen’s Rollo led a fleet of Frankish ships. The Vikings and Franks battle on the river, with the Vikings defeating the first fleet of French ships.
The battle leaves Halfdan, Floki, and Lagertha wounded while Ragnar and Rollo begin to battle and come to a stalemate. The Franks win the battle in the end while Rollo was greeted by Charles and Gisla. Ragnar also left Kattegat because of the loss.
Many years had passed when a messenger deliver a message to Aslaug and Bjorn that the Viking settlement was slaughtered revealing that Ragnar has a son named Magnus in Wessex.
The episode ends with Ragnar returning to Kattegat as a hated man and challenges his sons to kill him if they want to be king.
