After six months of hiatus, the second half of the fourth season of the historical drama TV series “Vikings” on the History Channel shall be returning on November 30 on a new timeslot and day too, reports the Den of Geek.
It could be a strategy on the part of the History Channel but the mere return of “Vikings” Season 4 is more than enough to make its fans happy and excited.
The first half of “Vikings” Season 4 featuring 10 episodes ended before the HBO hit series “Game of Thrones” Season 6 aired so the speculations then were saying that the former does not want to go head-to-head with the world’s most popular TV series.
However, even after the Season 6 finale of “Game of Thrones,” History Channel still did not air the second half of “Vikings” Season 4, even spawning speculations that the TV series might have already been canceled.
It is possible that the History Channel made some programming changes and it finally saw the end of November as the perfect time to air Season 4B of “Vikings.”
A monumental season
Despite the long break in between halves, showrunner Michael Hirst says that Season 4 of “Vikings” is monumental and unlike anything that the production team has ever done.
He said that the second half of “Vikings” Season 4 will reflect all their collective efforts to propel the TV series to the topmost level of historical drama as they follow storylines inspired by real life events.
Hirst disclosed that the second half of Season 4 will feature Bjorn Ironside sailing through the Mediterranean and Ivar the Boneless becoming the most feared warrior of all time. He explained that it is not going to be a story of one man but a saga of King Ragnar Lothbrok, played by Travis Fimmel, and his sons.
There are now reports saying that Hirst is now in Ireland for the filming of Season 5 of “Vikings” and the latest news is that Jonathan Meyers, winner of the Golden Globes for his portrayal in “The Tudors,” shall be joining the cast in a still undisclosed role.
The return of the King
Based on the synopsis of the midseason premiere of “Vikings” Season 4, the reappearance of King Ragnar in Kattegat would trigger a chain of events that no one could have ever imagined.
Ragnar will unexpectedly arrive home after going on a self-imposed sabbatical to see what has become of his sons and also to handle unfinished business in Wessex with King Ecbert, played by Linus Roache, details Screen Rant.
Incidentally, Lagertha, played by Katheryn Winnick, plans a power play in Kattegat and Bjorn Ironside, played by Alexander Ludwig, prepares to fulfill his long-held dream to explore the Mediterranean in a sleek new boat built for him by Floki, played by Gustaf Skarsgard.
The second half of Season 4 shall also feature Ivar the Boneless becoming the most feared warrior of all time.
Critics are one in saying that Season 4B of “Vikings” could be the most exciting yet for the TV series especially if the show cleans up some loose ends left during the first half of the season.
In addition to the confirmed airing date of episode 11 of “Vikings” Season 4, there are new rumors saying that King Ragnar Lothbrok will meet his demise before the season’s end as he will be facing an old nemesis.
Even before Season 4 of “Vikings” premiered in February this year, there have been reports that Season 4 is where Ragnar will meet his end because the actor who is playing the character has decided to move to big screen acting.
