The friendship of Ragnar and Floki was strained because of Christian monk Athelstan, played by George Blagden.
Hirst confirmed that Ragnar shall return to his oldest connections in Season 4 so he would reach out to his surviving beloved friends in Floki and former wife Lagertha.
