Various bits of news have been coming out about “Vikings” and its upcoming season 4, which we’re not going to see until sometime in 2016. It’s going to be an emotional season, that’s for sure, and characters will have to deal with Ragnar’s death among other things. We expect there to be various touching moments in the new episodes, but there will also be a good deal of intense drama between certain characters.
Some characters will apparently be affected by that death more significantly than others, and we might even see some suffering in unexpected ways as a result of his departure, but it’s not yet clear how the plot is going to play out in this regard. We do know that Floki will find himself in a bit of a mess because of the death of Athelstan, but it’s not yet clear how this will impact his character and if there might be any planned developments that the fans will not take lightly to.
We will also see Ragnar Lothbrok’s children featured more prominently in the new story, with some of them managing to even overtake their own father in terms of popularity and how well they’re liked in their community. After all, the story isn’t about Ragnar in particular, but about the Vikings as a whole – and the development of the new plot is apparently going to reflect that in a significant way.
Some fans might have gotten attached to the character, but they should have known better with a show like “Vikings”, which has clearly proven its capacity for taking some characters out of its story in the most unexpected moments. We don’t know if the writers are planning any similarly shocking developments for other characters, but we certainly wouldn’t be surprised if that happened early on in the new season.
Ragnar will soon be dethroned too, from the looks of it – Bjorn might step up and claim the role of the leader of the Vikings, and this is something that the community has been quite split on. It would be an interesting development, that’s for sure – but it could also end up shaking the story too much for some fans’ liking, and it could change the theme of the show far too strongly to preserve the interest of some of its core fans.
Still, we have no doubt that the writers of “Vikings” know exactly what they’re doing, as they’ve managed to retain their viewers – and even kept bringing in new ones – for three seasons and counting now. The show keeps getting more and more popular, and season 4 could easily be its best, and the most memorable one we’ve seen so far. It won’t take too much effort for the producers to pull that off either.
In the meantime though, season 4 is also going to introduce a new love interest for Ragnar, who will find himself in a bit of a tough spot with regards to that, from what we’ve been hearing so far. In addition, this will also be based on historic events, at least to the extent where expecting to see Ragnar interested in this particular person could make sense with regards to what we already know from history. Whether or not the writers will go into any significant detail with regards to that, we don’t know – but we do expect them to show a lot of the personality of Ragnar’s new attraction, possibly even in a lot of depth.
