It is not just King Ragnar and King Rollo who will have their share of sibling rivalry in the upcoming fourth season of the historical drama TV series “Vikings” on the History channel. Apparently, Ragnar Lothbrok’s son will also fight among themselves on who shall sit as King of Kattegat after certain events will force Ragnar to give up his throne.
In the event that Ragnar abdicates the throne, his rightful successor is Bjorn Ironside, being the Prince of Denmark, and also his first-born son. But according to latest reports, Bjorn as the new head of the Vikings will not sit well with his brother Ivor.
As Ivor would find it difficult to be under his brother as the new King of Kattegat, coming to terms with it will not be easy for him and will thus make a big issue out of it in the upcoming Season 4, details Christian Today.
There are speculations that Ragnar will not really abdicate the throne because he wanted to but because he will be ousted by his people that will pave the way for Bjorn to take over his post.
Other than dealing with the issues of his brother Ivor, Bjorn will also struggle in the upcoming fourth season of the very popular TV series for two reasons – the recent death of his wife and the challenge of trying to gain the trust and confidence of his people, fearful perhaps that he would also be ousted just like his father before him.
Ragnar’s other troubles
But the internal strife in Kattegat would not be the only issue that Ragnar would have to deal with in Season 4, which will be premiering on the History channel early next year.
Ragnar will also have to deal with his brother Rollo who betrayed him after the latter sided with France when Emperor Charles promised to give him power and marriage to his daughter Gisla in exchange for his loyalty.
Series creator Michael Hirst confirmed that Ragnar Lothbrok will continue his advance to Paris despite suffering from a near-death debacle during the Season 3 finale after their first assault to Paris, notes Venture Capital Post.
Hirst explained that the big confrontation between Ragnar and Rollo will be very definitive as it will be on a whole new level compared to the last time when it was just one fight and one battle between them. The upcoming battle will be much bigger because there is going to be much more at stake and the personal issues are to be clearly put on the line.
Fascination over a foreigner
King Ragnar Lothbrok, played by actor Travis Fimmel, is not the type of person whose personal interest or fascination can be drawn easily by other people, but it looks like things will change for the Nordic king in the upcoming Season 4 of “Vikings.”
Dianne Doan, who will be playing the role of the mysterious newcomer Yidu in Season 4 of “Vikings,” revealed that it is her enigmatic character’s uniqueness and mystery that will eventually draw the attention of King Ragnar on her.
The actress with Chinese descent reveals that Yidu was originally kidnapped on the Red Sea and was brought to the Paris as a slave. She remained in the French city until Ragnar and his sword-wielding fighters successfully conquered Paris during the show’s third season.
Yidu was consequently captured by the pagans and brought back to Kattegat, where she remained as a slave.
Doan explained that the people of Kattegat have never seen someone like Yidu from her looks to her views on the world and other beliefs in life. And it is because of the very same mystery in Yidu that will frighten villagers on her and ultimately draw Ragnar’s interest in her.
The inquisitive and very sick king will immediately become captivated by the exotic outsider, and he will work on uncovering more about Yidu’s past, hints Doan.
