Season 4 of the historical drama TV series “Vikings” is set to premiere on the History Channel on February 18 and there have already been plenty of spoilers and information regarding the popular TV show on the internet.
One of the most appetizing information about “Vikings” Season 4 is the possible death of King Ragnar Lothbrok, played by actor Travis Fimmel, and that he will be succeeded to the throne in Kattegat, Denmark by his first-born son Bjorn Ironside, played by Alexander Ludwig.
However, before King Ragnar bids adieu, the early part of Season 4 would reportedly see him falling for Chinese character Yidu, played by Dianne Doan.
Reports have it that Yidu will shake things up not only for the natives of Kattegat but possibly the mind and heart as well of King Ragnar, notes Design & Trend.
Familiar with the show
In a recent interview, Dianne Doan said that she was already familiar with the show even before she auditioned for the part of Yidu.
She said that she had watched a couple of episodes of “Vikings” but admitted that she did not follow it from season to season. She said she is just excited that the show is introducing a character from the East and that the showrunners are incorporating the Asian culture to the show.
The actress also explained about her character’s relationship with Ragnar. She said that Yidu’s appearance intrigues King Ragnar, adding that the production has succeeded in differentiating Yidu from the people of Kattegat.
She added that the relationship she developed with Ragnar stemmed from the King of Denmark’s curiosity for her past, where she comes from, who rules it, and what her thoughts are about religion and death.
When she was given a personal overview of the Vikings’ way of life, Yidu’s initial reaction was shock because the lifestyle of the Kattegat natives is so different from where she comes from.
Doan said that Yidu is now a slave in a foreign land where she does not know the customs or language. Her main priority is survival too so if it means assimilating to the culture and religion of the Vikings, she actually embodies the same characteristics of Athelstan.
A relationship on the side
It would be interesting how Yidu would play out in the relationship of Aslaug and Ragnar. It could be recalled that Aslaug cheated on Ragnar in the past season with a traveller that many believe may have been Odin.
While Aslaug was cheating, Siggy ran out to save her son and dies in the process. With the cheating of Aslaug, it is likely that King Ragnar would get back together with Lagertha, with Yidu on the side, notes Moviepilot.
After the attack in Paris during the Season 3 finale, some of the Vikings headed back to Kattegat with Ragnar in tow weak and dying, leaving his brother Rollo in charge of those who stayed behind.
But then Rollo struck a deal with the King of Paris when the latter offered his daughter and some lands in exchange for fighting his brother.
It is likely that Rollo will betray his brother for the second time in Season 4 and that is where the hatred of Bjorn Ironside with his uncle will emanate from.
Meanwhile, another thing that has been making fans excited for the fourth season of “Vikings” is the cameo appearance of Toronto Blue Jays baseball player Josh Donaldson.
The baseball player recently shared on his Instagram account a picture of himself looking like a Viking with the hairdo and the beard and captioned it by saying that he is done filming for Season 4 of “Vikings” and that he had really enjoyed his time on the set.
Apparently, Donaldson will take on the role of Hoskuld, which is described as a Viking warrior of great skill. But it is not yet known what episode of Season 4 will his character be introduced or for how many episodes will he appear.
