Vikings Season 4 Second Half to Feature the Evolution of Ivar the Boneless as the Most Feared Viking of All Time

The History Channel has yet to announce the premiere date for the second half of Season 4 of the Canadian-Irish historical drama TV series “Vikings” and fans are starting to get fidgety about it.

The previous reports said that “Vikings” will return to the air this July after taking nearly a two-month hiatus to allow the popular HBO series “Game of Thrones” to complete its Season 6.

However, the latest rumors are now saying that the premiere date of the second half of Season 4 of “Vikings” might be delayed to the latter part of this year. History Channel has yet to make an official statement or announcement so the rumored delay is merely speculation at this time.

Fans are now eagerly awaiting the outcome of the confrontation between King Ragnar Lothbrok, played by Travis Fimmel, and his sons during his return following his defeat at the hands of the Parisians and his brother Rollo, played by Clive Standen, reports the Christian Times.

Ragnar has been left demoralized with the defeat and upon his return to Kattegat, he found out that the people have lost faith in him. He then went on to challenge his sons and the villagers to kill him and claim themselves as kings.

While all of Ragnar’s sons have their desires to become the next King of Kattegat, it is Ivar the Boneless who could have the best chance of laying claim to the Danish throne because of his brute strength.

Taking the lead for the show

Ivar the Boneless shall be taking the lead in the second half of Season 4 of “Vikings.” The basis of the reports is the latest trailer of “Vikings” where Ivar was greatly featured as he struggles to become the great leader that he was meant to be.

King Ragnar was also seen in the trailer saying that his son Ivar the Boneless will be known around the world and everyone will fear him.

Based on history, Ivar the Boneless has conquered every land in England apart from Wessex where King Alfred rules. It was also King Alfred who wiped every Vikings out of England according to history.

Thus, speculations are rife that the second half of Season 4 might also feature the war between Ivar the Boneless and King Alfred. Some critics, however, think that such plot is too ahead of the story even from a historical point of view, indicating that it could happen either in Season 5 or Season 6 if there would be one.

Latest reports have it that the production and cast members of “Vikings” have already completed filming the remaining 10 episodes of the fourth season of the TV series.

Still alive and kicking

Interestingly, Travis Fimmel actually completed filming for the 10 episodes for the second half of Season 4, indicating that his character may still survive towards the end and could still move on to Season 5.

Or it also possible that his character may finally meet his demise towards the end and confirm rumors at the start of Season 4 that King Ragnar Lothbrok of Kattegat will meet his end so that actor Travis Fimmel would finally get his graceful exit from the show.

In a recent interview, Fimmel said that they have already completed filming 50 episodes of “Vikings” since Season 1. He explained that his character has undergone a lot of changes over the years.

Vikings Season 4

Showrunner Michael Hirst revealed that the second half of “Vikings” Season 4 would feature a time jump in order to allow King Ragnar’s sons to grow up and be active young men.

The series creator said that the second half of “Vikings” Season 4 shall feature King Ragnar at his lowest point because it is a big part of his story that basically featured the rise and fall of the hero Norse leader.
