King Ragnar Lothbrok, played by Travis Fimmel, has been a real tough nut to crack in the current Season 4 of the historical drama TV series “Vikings” on the History Channel.
Even before the fourth season of “Vikings” started airing on the History Channel on February 18, reports started going around that it would be the last season for Travis Fimmel because he wants to move on to the big screen.
As such, speculations have also been rife since that his character Ragnar will meet his demise in the current fourth season. The biggest question among fans now is when will that happen and who would be responsible for the death of Ragnar. Based on history, Ragnar was captured by King Aella of Northumbria and got killed when he was thrown into a pit of venomous snakes.
However, the TV series is apparently putting a lot of twists on what transpired with history so it is still a mystery whether “Vikings” will stay with the course of real-life events or alter it for cinematic purposes.
Will Rollo be his brother’s executioner?
Based on the synopsis of the upcoming sixth episode of the fourth season of “Vikings” titled “What Might Have Been” to air on March 24 on the History Channel, Rollo will attempt to take down his brother to show to the King of France that his loyalty is with Paris and the French people, reports Christian Today.
Based on the trailer for the upcoming sixth episode, Ragnar and his men will charge into his brother’s new home in Paris, ready to burn it to the ground.
However, they will encounter inclement weather on their way to the objectives of raiding Paris again and putting an end to Rollo, played by Clive Standen, that would also risk all their lives since they are no longer sure if they would come out after the mission alive.
But Rollo is already aware that his brother Ragnar and his men are coming so he has also prepared for an ambush and outfitted his own men as if they are going to war. He wants to bring Paris out of Ragnar’s crosshairs for good.
Rollo is also motivated by the pleading of Emperor Charles of France to help him turn back Ragnar and his men in their impending return to Paris.
The emperor’s pleading also comes with a request not to return to the fold of Ragnar, whom he already betrayed during Season 3. Rollo is also aware that there was no turning back for him so rejoining Ragnar and the Vikings is out of the question.
Not only did Rollo promise to show his loyalty to Emperor Charles and France, he also wants to prove to Princess Gesla that his allegiance will be with the French and not on the Norsemen.
Filled with surprises, intrigues and twists
Meanwhile, the Parent Herald cited that the next episode of “Vikings” Season 4 will be filled with surprises, intrigues, and twists.
According to the outlet, Ragnar will be addicted to an herb in the next episode of “Vikings.” The herb was given to him by the slave named Yidu, played by Dianne Doan.
It could be recalled that during the fifth episode of “Vikings,” Ragnar demanded Yidu to provide him the mysterious herb. He also took time out from Kattegat to consume it with delight.
Apparently, the herb is not an opium but it could be betel nuts because during the same episode, when Ragnar threw his knives and a shield while Bjorn Ironside, played by Alexander Ludwig, and King Harald Finehair, played by Peter Franzen, approach, his mouth and saliva were tinted with red, which is not the case if the herb he is taking was opium.
