Vikings Season 3: What to Expect From the New Season, A One-on-One With Hirst!

Vikings is one the recent television series to have captured the attention of viewers. It has not been able to make a mark as deep as Game of Thrones or Supernatural, but is slowly becoming popular. Vikings has had two previous seasons.

With Vikings not being present at the recent New York Comic-Con, fans were worried that there wouldn’t be Vikings Season 3, but then it was announced recently, much to their delight and relief.

Show runner Michael Hirst has revealed that Vikings Season 3 will not be resorting to any time jumps, unlike Vikings Season 1 and Season 2. Hirst said that there are numerous benefits as well as problems in creating time jumps. He said heading for a time jump entails a new plot. It spoils the story at hand as it involves a different part of history.

The entire plot line has to be started from scratch, with new cliff hangers and characters. This places a lot of pressure on the writers and producers who have to conceptualise the whole story from scratch, entirely deviating from the previous concept, except for references or flashbacks.

The benefit of the time jump is that it makes the plot interesting. The viewers might get the hang of what can happen in the series after a few episodes. They might anticipate what can happen in a season premiere, but a time jump puts them off guard and surprises them with a story they never expected.

The viewers of Vikings Season 3 are in for a treat. The producers have given all the inside scoops and plot lines to the viewers. Vikings Season 3 plot focuses on Lothbrok, who is going to be the King of Denmark. The plot opens and deals with how he had risen to the position of the King. The plot also shows how Lothbrok reconciles with his brother Rollo. This side of the plot has been given much emphasis, apart from focusing on how Paris is raided by Ragnar with a hundred warships. The season also talks about Athelstan and his eminent death.

The main reason for the speculation about Athelstan’s death is that, the actor who plays his role has got a better deal in another major series and has started working on it. Official confirmation on this is yet to be released. Vikings Season 3 will make massive use of CGI. The team of special effects is working hard on making this season realistic.

The fans of Vikings Season 3 haven’t yet received any news about the release date for the series. Fans believe that because season 1 and 2 of Vikings had premiered around February and March, it will be the same for Vikings Season 3.
