Valve Corporation Defers Release of ‘Left 4 Dead 3’ and Time it for the Roll Out of its Steam Box Gaming Console

Now it has become clear that Valve Corporation is actually working on something bigger than developing its highly-anticipated video games like “Left 4 Dead 3” and “Half-Life 3,” among others.

It turns out that Valve is in the thick of development of its own gaming console called the Steam Box. The gaming company has in fact already revealed recently the details of the Steam Box controller and it is likely that Valve is in the finishing phase at this point in time.

In order to launch a new gaming console, Valve needs a major game title or titles to go with it and if reports or insinuations on gamer community forums like the Forums on Steam are to be believed, it looks like Steam Box would come out with “Left 4 Dead 3” or “Half-Life 3” or both.

So Valve is no longer just interested in being a game developer but a gaming console manufacturer as well to compete with Microsoft’s Xbox One, Sony’s PlayStation 4, and Nintendo’s 3DS and Wii U. Although it remains to be seen if Valve is now coordinating with other game developers for the possibility of coming up with versions of the game for the Steam Box.

Up in the air

Valve Corporation was a no-show during the recently-concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2015 held at the Los Angeles Convention Center early this week, which had fans of the zombie shooter game “Left 4 Dead 3” a bit disappointed.

There have been reports late in May and early in June that Valve would make an announcement at the E3 2015 event regarding its two most anticipated video games – “Left 4 Dead 3” and “Half-Life 3”

But no announcement has been made during the event and the latest report is that Valve will likely do so either at Gamescom on August 5 or the Game Development Conference (GDC) 2015 to be held on August 3 to 4 in Europe. But if nothing comes out from Valve by then, gamers can just wait anytime from 2016 onwards.

Valve Corporation has been very quiet about the game ever since it parted ways with Turtle Rock, which has been its development partner for the “Left 4 Dead” franchise since 2008.

Cancelling the game altogether?

Previous reports have it that Valve Corporation has already decided on cancelling the third installment to its best-selling zombie shooter game franchise because the company is reportedly contented with the tons of money being raked in by its other games, namely “Steam,” “Steam Machines,” and “DoTA 2.”

Accordingly, instead of focusing on two upcoming games “Left 4 Dead 3” and the other much-awaited game title “Half-Life 3,” Valve will just do away with the former and focus on the latter and free itself from the intense pressure..

Another reason why Valve appears disinterested in pursuing the development of “Left 4 Dead 3” is because its partner for the two previous games of the series Turtle Rock Studios has decided to go on separate way.

However, until Valve formally makes a statement or announcement to either confirm or deny these latest rounds of rumors, these are merely speculations at this point in time.

The reports on the cancellation of “Left 4 Dead 3” actually runs contrary to reports late in May that Valve Corporation is already in the midst of development of the first-person shooter video game “Left 4 Dead 3” as well as “Half-Life 3” reportedly using Source 2 engines for both upcoming video games.

left 4 dead 3

Valve originally developed the Source engine in 2004. It is a 3D video game engine designed in constant incremental updates. Some of the more popular Valve video games that used Source engine are “Counter-Strike,” “Half-Life,” “Half-Life 2,” “Left 4 Dead,” and “Left 4 Dead 2.”
