Far Cry 3 was released back in 2012 and at the time, fans were wondering if they were ever going to see the fourth installment to the popular video game series. The curiosity was answered this month when Ubisoft released Far Cry 4 on November 18th in North America, United Kingdom, Australia and Europe. The game is available today for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. Those of you in Japan that have been waiting for the release, you will have to wait until January 22, 2015, according to online sources.
Like many other video gamer series that become very popular, Far Cry 4 will be released in more than one version. The Limited Edition will have a downloadable content pack called “Hurk’s Redemption”, but that is only available if you pre-ordered the game. The Kyrat Edition will include a statue of Pagan Min, the map of Kyrat, a collector’s box, propaganda poster, a journal and the Hurk’s Redemption downloadable content.
Ubisoft also announced the Ultimate Kyrat Edition which includes everything that comes with the Kyrat Edition plus a steelbook and Season Pass. Even though the game has only been released for a couple of weeks, the reviews that are pouring in are positive ones. Websites like GameRankings.com and others, gave the Xbox One version an 88% based on 8 reviews. The least favorite version based on those rankings was the Microsoft Windows edition which got a 78.5% based on just 4 reviews.
Much of the Far Cry 4 video game is going to feel like the third game in the series, but there are plenty of fun things that keep you coming back for more. With such a large world to explore, getting outside of the normal campaign mode opens up the options for you with side missions and other things you can do to get better gear and weapons. The in game world is expansive and when you are not staring at the beautiful landscapes, you are looking over your shoulder.
Because the world is so large and hard to explore, doing so on foot can take forever, so it is nice to see that it is packed with vehicles that you can choose from to get yourself around. You can play the game in Co-Op mode with friends for a juiced up version of solo campaign mode. According to online sources, the Co-Op mode opens the world of Kyrat just a little further offering you even more reasons to continue playing the game.
