Transformers: The Last Knight Official Trailer to Take Off in Theaters Next Week! Spinoff Movie on Bumblebee Already in the Works

When the last “Transformers” movie came out in 2014 officially titled “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” some were saying that it could possibly be one of the last in the film franchise as the series seemed to have slowed down.

The speculation also further heightened when Director Michael Bay was reported to have abandoned the franchise for good, deciding to just work as a producer instead of being behind the cameras.

It turned out that those rumors are false as early this year, Michael Bay officially came on board to direct the fifth “Transformers” movie officially titled as “Transformers: The Last Knight. Filming for the movie will be wrapping up filming soon as the film is expected to hit theaters on June 23, 2017.

Reports now have it that the official trailer shall be rolling off to theaters next week. Interestingly, even before the first teaser trailer for “Transformers: The Last Knight comes out in theaters, there are already reports saying that the script for the spin-off “Transformers” movie on Bumblebee, the reliable Camaro-turning sidekick of Optimus Prime, is already completed.

This means that production for the spinoff movie could happen sooner than expected, reports Slash Film.

Certified for IMAX theaters

It was actually Consumer Protections BC who revealed that the first trailer for “Transformers: The Last Knight” has been certified and rated by Paramount Pictures for arrival on IMAX theaters next week with the movie “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”

The trailer shall be running for 121 seconds, which critics find to be quite long for a teaser trailer that normally is over in 90 seconds or less.

However, based on the past “Transformers” movies, the first trailers of the films usually feature footage created specifically for the trailer rather than from the movie. But since the sequel has been in production for months now, they may show off some of what they shot. It should be online sometime after it debuts in theaters if not on the same day.

The last time that a movie’s trailer was made for IMAX was when Warner Bros prepared the footage they were going to show for “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” which ended up being an IMAX event before footage made its way to the internet.

It could also mean that the trailer for “Transformers: The Last Knight” might just run in front of an IMAX release, which is actually “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” notes Comicbook.com

Paramount Pictures and Hasbro are responsible for the worldwide blockbuster success of the “Transformers” franchise, which has earned $3.8 billion to date, and whose films, directed by Bay, are among the highest grossing movies of all time.

The knight in ‘The Last Knight’

The ‘knight’ in the title of the fifth “Transformers” movie has a meaning for what it is – a knight. Based on recent behind-the-set photos showing filming for “Transformers: The Last Knight,” Director Michael Bay is actually taking the battle of the Autobots and the Decepticons in the medieval world.

Sometime in the middle of last month, Michael Bay was spotted filming explosive battle scenes for the robot movie over in Bourne Woods, which is located south of Farnham, Surrey, England.

The setting featured knights, dressed in full armor, on horseback and off charging into battle, which reminds fans of a “Game of Thrones” episode.

Based on rumors, Merlin, King Arthur and his legendary sword, the Excalibur, will all play important parts in the film as they shall reportedly interact with the Transformers.

Michael Bay has been known to pull out his old tricks in filming “Transformers” movies. After getting into a controversy for Nazi-fying Winston Churchill’s birthplace in September, the director said that it does not look what it seems and assured fans and critics alike that Churchill would be smiling a lot in the movie once they see him on film.
