“Transformers 5” is already slated for a 2017 release although no specific date has been mentioned as of this time.
Given such timeline, it is imperative for the movie to start production next year if it plans to make it to the release date with ample time for marketing and promotions.
While there have been numerous casting speculations since late last year, what seems clear at this point is that only Mark Wahlberg is confirmed to return to the fifth installment of the robot movie.
Wahlberg played the role of mechanic and inventor Cade Yeager in “Transformers: Age of Extinction” that was released in June of last year.
Apparently, the lack of formal casting reports indicate that the next movie of the successful franchise will prominently feature the titular mechanoids, which fans have been pushing for since the first movie, notes the Christian Today.
It was actually Akiva Goldsman, former head of the “Transformers” franchise writers’ room, who decided on having the mechanoids take center stage in the next installment since that is what “Transformers” is all about in the first place.
But Goldsman has left the position since after he was tapped by Hasbro to be in charge of the “G.I. Joe” franchise and the “Micronauts” movie.
In a past interview prior to leaving, Goldsman said that the next installment of “Transformers” will have a lot of visual help, toys, robots, sketches, as well as writers and artists. He added that after the super saturation, the writers will figure out not just one but numerous films that will extend the film’s universe.
Will they or will they not?
However, since Goldman has already been replaced by writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway of “Iron Man,” it remains to be seen if the plan set forth by their predecessor will stick.
As far as media outlets are concerned, it would really be exciting to see “Transformers 5” centering on the battle of Optimus Prime and his Autobots against Megatron and his Decepticons because it has been the gist of the franchise when it was still an animated cartoon.
Reports also have it that humans will just be in the sidelines in the upcoming movie, which seems to be consistent with previous reports that “Transformers 5” will be set in the home planet of the Creator, which is probably Cybertron or whatever remains of it.
Latest reports also put that “Transformers 5” will have two major plotlines. This was confirmed by Mark Ryan, the actor who lent his voice to Jetfire in “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” the third movie of the franchise, and Lockdown in “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” the fourth film of the series, details iSchoolguide.
Ryan said that the principal plotline involves the effort of Cade Yeager on earth to spare the world from invaders with the assistance of the Autobots and Dinobots.
The second plotline, on the other hand, will revolve around the true pioneer of the Autobots, Optimus Prime, as he seeks to discover the Quintessons, the creator or the inventors of his race.
Ryan added that the two stories will be inevitably combined together towards the end.
Meanwhile, Stephen Davis, president of Hasbro, proudly stated that the script for “Transformers” franchise is already prepared for up to 10 years, which he attributes to having that writers’ room a few months ago, under the supervision of Academy Award-winning writer Akiva Goldsman.
Paramount Pictures has come up with a “Transformers” writers’ room sometime in May as put together by Akiva Goldsman and Michael Bay. The writers’ room assured the next installment of the very successful robot movie series of a good storyline as well as all future films or spinoff movies of the franchise.
It could be recalled that towards the penultimate part of “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” the Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, were able to draw support from at least three beast robots, which alluded to the possibility that the next installment of the series could focus on beast wars.
