According to the website Schmoes Know, there will a be a cameo appearance by a character who is central to the Spider-Man mythos and who will continue playing a far important role in the upcoming films.
Speculations suggest the character referred to, is the Green Goblin. However, it doesn’t look like Marvel will be heading in that direction with Spider-Man: Homecoming. The original Spider-Man trilogy introduced the Green Goblin and was brought in again for the Amazing Spider-Man movies.
The Green Goblin is a great character, and since the confirmation that The Tinkerer (Michael Chernus) and Vulture (Michael Keaton) would be the villains in Spider-Man: Homecoming, there is little or no chance of the Green Goblin coming in.
In fact, with two villains already there in the upcoming film and with rumors suggesting that Bokeem Woodbine might make an appearance as the Shocker, the surprise cameo won’t be a villain.
If Marvel had to bring in another villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming, then it would likely be Kingpin. He made a recent comeback in Daredevil and is one of the most iconic villains in Spider-Man comics.
With Spider-Man: Homecoming slated for a summer release in the coming year, there is still time for more insights on the film. The work on the movie just ended. The fans will wait for some more to time to find out if new updates are unveiled about Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
