Isabella Cruise, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman’s adopted daughter, just got hitched in a low-key private Scientology and Christian mixture ceremony in London.
The 22-year-old A-list daughter married her British boyfriend of less than a year Max Parker. They exchanged vows in front of a small group of close friends on September 18.
But the surprise wedding, in which the bride sported a white A-laced wedding dress paired with black tights, and her bridesmaids who donned pale pink jumpsuits, was not what made the headlines. The real shocker was the fact that Tom and Nicole were not present for Bella’s big day.
Being two Hollywood A-listers, Cruise and Kidman are not the ones to miss out on parties but when it came down to their own daughter, the former couple were notably absent from the guest list. It turns out that the reason why they did not see Isabella say ‘I do’ with her love one was for her own sake.
According to Hollywood Life, the “Mission Impossible: Rouge Nation” actor didn’t skip the wedding because he didn’t like the groom. As a matter of fact, he and Nicole were invited but Isabella wished both her parents not to attend her wedding as the solemn event would probably be turned into a media circus because of their status.
Reports say that Tom and Nicole knew that if they were to be seen together at the wedding, the paparazzi and guests would make it more about them and less about their daughter.
Some reports also say that there is still some animosity between the two but nevertheless, the former couple selflessly made the decision not to be present at their daughter’s big day so that Bella and Max could celebrate their day without distractions and press attention.
Bella, a hair and make-up artist at Vidal Sassoon in London for three years now, met Parker, an IT consultant, through common friends nearly a year ago. According to the Daily Mail, the newlyweds didn’t want anything grand out of their wedding.
Instead, they wanted to keep it as low-key and as private as possible. The reception was reportedly nothing very formal and it was what the lovebirds wanted.
Aside from this, reports claim that the “Valkyrie” star was filming a new movie that is taking time and millions of dollars. It would be very costly to mess up with the filming schedule.
Nicole, on the other hand, was in the English capital on her daughter’s big day but was working on her West End performance. The “Moulin Rouge” actress is showcasing her stage play prowess in “Photograph 51” at the Noel Coward Theater in London.
Nevertheless, there was no bad blood between Isabella and her parents. US Weekly reveals that Tom was the one who picked up the bill and paid for the wedding and the reception.
Friends of the bride and groom posted photos of their wedding and reception at the Dorchester in Mayfair on Facebook and reports say that the wedding was simple, but it sure was very expensive.
Nicole was also involved with the wedding preparations and even had a private dinner with the couple before they wed. Reports say that the romantic affair was a mixture of Scientology and Christian rituals.
Scientology weddings are similar to ceremonies in other churches, featuring a bridal procession as well as a recital of vows between the bride and the groom. 
Kidman and Cruise adopted Isabella shortly after they got married in 1990. They then adopted a son named Connor during their 11-year marriage. Connor, now 20, was reportedly also not present at his sister’s wedding to keep the nuptials a secret.
Although their marriage ended in 2001, they still play a huge role in their adoptive kids’ lives. Connor and Bella went on to live with their Dad hence embracing the teachings of Scientology.
