We still don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes of “Tokyo Ghoul”, and there are conflicting reports on the horizon. And while fans of the show seem to still be hopeful that they’ll get the new season at some point during this year, things are starting to lean more and more towards a possible major delay in the production. At this point, it’s not clear when the season will arrive at all.
Some of the rumors about the new season imply that there are major issues with the production right now, and the showrunners are facing trouble finding a way to move everything forward. It’s possible, according to those rumors, that “Tokyo Ghoul” will not get a new season at all.
That would be a severely disappointing conclusion to what started out as a promising show though, so hopefully that’s not the case. If the producers of “Tokyo Ghoul” really can’t find a way to continue the production, they should at least sort out a deal with someone else, as there is too much potential in the show right now to just sweep it under the rug.
But let’s not get so skeptical just yet. Nothing has bene confirmed, and it wouldn’t be the first time a major show has been met with rumors of its cancellation. For now, most fans seem to be choosing to remain hopeful for season 3, and some are even hoping to see it at some point during this year.
How likely is it that we could get a 2016 release at this point though? It would be quite strange to see the show released on such short notice, and the producers would definitely want to get some marketing done before the launch, so we don’t really see the timing working out.
With regards to the plot, how will the show evolve in season 3 exactly? We’ve seen some interesting rumors so far, although it sounds like the exact plot hasn’t been set in stone yet. Kaneki could play an even more important role in this season, and we could see some episodes exploring his past in more detail.
What Kaneki will learn about himself in the end may surprise many fans though, and it looks like the writers could be setting up the character to be involved in a major plot twist. Given what we’ve seen in the show so far, that wouldn’t be very surprising to many fans though.
The new season could also have a more personal touch to it, showing some characters in more day-to-day life situations. Combined with the rumors about Kaneki and his exposition, it sounds like this season could be very strongly focused on exploring the show’s characters in more detail, and fleshing them out more.
And if that’s true, then it could be a good sign for the future, as it implies that the producers don’t have any intentions to stop the show at the moment. If they were leaning towards a shutdown after this season, we would be getting different types of rumors.
But in the end, most of this information is not confirmed, and fans should take everything about the show with a grain of salt. If the new season really is coming in 2016 by any chance, we expect to hear more about that by the end of this month. If no news shows up on the horizon, it’s probably safe to assume that the show is coming at some point in 2017.
