Actually, it does seem like the people behind “Titanfall 2” have been trying to capitalize on their competition with “Call of Duty” to a large extent when making the new game. Various features are seemingly implemented just to serve as a contrast between the two games, or on the other hand as an attempt to draw some people from “Call of Duty”.
According to some, it doesn’t make much sense to compare the two franchises, and they should be evaluated on their own. But the similarities between the two are hard to deny at this point, and their high price points mean that they will likely not share a large portion of their player bases.
On the other hand, some have been wondering how the new game is going to compete against “Battlefield 1”, but it seems even less likely that the two games will have any significant overlap.
From the setting to the gameplay, there just isn’t anything significant to compare them on, so we expect that the “Battlefield” franchise will be a bit safer from competition. The market for shooters isn’t infinite though, there is a limited number of players that can be attracted to a new game, so some might still find themselves deciding between playing a historic shooter or a futuristic one.
It’s a great time to be a shooter player, that’s for sure. With so many great releases lined up on the horizon, one just has to choose what they want to play.
