Apple Watch would be officially rolled out in April. This is no longer a rumor but a confirmation as the information came directly from Apple CEO Tim Cook during a recent earnings call.
Earlier reports indicate that the Apple Watch, known as iWatch to many Apple fans, will be launched in March along with the iPod Touch 6th Generation and possibly with the American tech giant’s latest mobile operating system.
All those rumors have been put to rest when Tim Cook announced the shipping date of Apple’s first foray into wearable technology, reports The Guardian.
While the Apple Watch has been announced as early as September last year during the launching of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, its delay was said to be due to the unavailability of key parts to enable mass production. With the issue on the component already settled, the Cupertino-based company is most likely already in the midst of mass production for the Apple Watch.
March became a likely possibility for the launching of the wearable device based also on a statement of an Apple executive made in December that the company will be unveiling the Apple Watch after the Chinese New Year or in Spring.
Tim Cook’s pronouncement of an April launching for the Apple Watch is well within Spring so the company was still consistent.
Most personal device from Apple
Apart from merely telling the time, the Apple Watch, according to the American tech giant, is the most personal device that shall roll off its assembly line.
It features a heart rate monitor as well as other health and fitness tracking features whose outputs go directly to Apple’s health app and data service for analysis and immediate recommendation to the user.
However, there was one issue that reportedly is hounding the Apple Watch which also contributed to its delay. Apple Watch only has 2.5 hours of battery life under continued heavy use contrary to the company’s announcement that it would last for a day on full charge.
This was a drawback for Apple since its competing smartwatches from Samsung and Google have batteries that last for more than a day. Sony’s Android Wear Smartwatch 3 is the best in terms of battery life, as it can last over three days under normal usage before it requires charging.
It is not clear whether Apple has addressed the battery life issue but it most likely did already since that would really be a major drawback to the device’s sales potential.
Despite the negative reports on the battery life of the Apple Watch, analysts still see Apple selling millions of the device worldwide during its launch. The analysts explained that Apple has been known to produce quality and beautifully-engineered products over the past couple of years so consumers know that they would get their money’s worth on the Apple Watch.
