There is still some time left before we see “Thor: Ragnarok”, the continuation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it looks like this film will be one of the most important ones in this franchise in the eyes of many fans. Various important details should be covered in this installment, and if the producers handle it correctly, it could easily be a critical piece in the whole line-up, introducing various developments that will be important in other films later on.
But for now, there are several main points that fans would like to see this movie focus on, and we’ve been seeing some interesting discussions about the possible plot developments in “Thor: Ragnarok” among both fans and critics. For example, the fate of Odin at the hands of Loki hasn’t been revealed yet, and this is one of the more interesting moments from “Thor: The Dark World” that are still getting discussed.
Some fans seem convinced that the producers are just going to leave this as a cliffhanger as it drives up such discussions quite nicely, but others have hope that we’re still going to see some sensible conclusion soon enough. After all, it doesn’t make sense to keep Odin in the dark forever, especially if the producers plan on expanding the cinematic franchise even further, so they will have to address this plot development sooner or later. And it does sound like “Thor: Ragnarok” would be a great opportunity for this.
Something else that discussions have been pointing towards is the possibility of seeing an explanation for the visions that Thor has been having. Some are actually convinced that we’re going to get this explanation now, as it’s seen as a good way to ease into the plot of this film. Seeing Thor in pursuit of the origin of his visions would indeed be an interesting development, but we are not sure how much the producers are actually going to reveal during this film. They might just use his search as a premise for setting up the general plot, but without giving the actual explanation during “Thor: Ragnarok” itself.
Meanwhile, there were reports that at least one character will not be present in the plot of the new film, and fans are going to have to wait a little more to see him on the screen again. Dr. Erik Selvig, played by Stellan Skarsgard, is the one who will be absent from the production. The actor wanted to reassure his fans that his contract with Marvel is still active so he’s likely still planned for an inclusion in future films, but we don’t know the exact reason for skipping him this time.
The actor has a predefined number of films in his contract so it’s not very likely that Marvel are just going to cancel it prematurely, but we never know what might be happening behind the studio’s doors. For what it’s worth, there haven’t been any indications of negativity on the public side yet.
Dr. Selvig is rumored to not be the only character that will be skipped from the film, but others haven’t actually been confirmed yet. Fans have also been speculating about the cast line-up for “Thor: Ragnarok” in other aspects too, such as the possible involvement of certain prominent actors, but those rumors are somewhat difficult to follow as they seem to be making some rather wild predictions and aren’t so much based on facts.
