‘Thor 3’ Taps Black List’s Stephany Folsom to Write the Script for the Marvel Film!

The third installment of Marvel’s “Thor” has added a new screenwriter and it’s a refreshing sight for the male-dominated genre.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has hired Stephany Folsom to write a draft of the script for “Thor: Ragnarok.”

This makes Folsom the third female writer involved in a Marvel Studios project.

“Inside Out’s” Nicole Perlman originated the screenplay for “Guardians of the Galaxy” before James Gunn. Now she’s working on “Captain Marvel” with co-writer Meg Lefauve, The Collider reports.

This is the latest news on the upcoming Marvel film since it gained Taika Waititi as director in October. Waititi is known for being the co-writer and co-director of the vampire spoof “What We Do in the Shadows.”

Before Folsom, Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle previously worked on the script. The pair both worked on “Thor: The Dark World,” but it appears the studio is looking for a feminine touch for the upcoming film.

Some of Folsom’s works include the Black List script “1969: A Space Odyssey or How Kubrick Learned to Stop Worrying and Land on the Moon.” It is a fictionalized drama about NASA enlisting Stanley Kubrick to fake a phenomenal moon landing.

She also wrote the script for “The Princess of North Sudan,” Disney’s unique princess which was inspired by a true account of an American man claiming a territory in Africa and proclaiming himself and his family its royal rulers.

Given Taika’s credits as a writer in most of his projects, it appears that he will be working with Folsom to get the script done in order to begin the film’s production by June.

The third “Thor” standalone film will be titled “Thor: Ragnarok.” While there aren’t that many details about the movie yet, but fans know that the film is going to be great.

Chris Hemsworth will be reprising his role as the titular hero along with Mark Ruffalo’s The Hulk. Vine Report noted that the pattern for Marvel’s Phase Three films is teaming up various members of the Avengers even in their standalone movies.

When news of Ruffalo being cast in “Thor: Ragnarok” came out, fans have speculated that Thor and The Hulk will eventually find themselves in a brawl in the forthcoming film.

Ruffalo himself confirmed that a fight will ensue between the Asgard native and the green superhuman. The 48-year-old actor describes the upcoming film as a buddy movie that is bound to be promising.

The tension between their characters was evident when they shared the screen in 2012’s “The Avengers” and Bruce Banner’s brawny alter ego knocked the Norse God straight out of the frame.

Hemsworth, on the other hand, seems to have an idea of who will come out the winner between Thor and The Hulk’s fight.

Speaking to Daily News while promoting his latest film titled “In the Heart of the Sea,” Hemsworth did not reveal any detail how Bruce Banner gets involve in the plot of “Thor: Ragnarok,” but he did leave clues to fans on who will win the fight.

The Australian actor believes that since the film is named on his character, Thor should win this time given his loss during their first fight.

The 32-year-old actor jokingly adds that the fight scene will be some sort of “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” storyline referencing to the 1969 western film that starred Paul Newman and Robert Redford.

Chris says that Thor and The Hulk haven’t spent a whole lot of time talking to each other on screen, so the relationship between them is definitely something new for the fans. Thor apparently finds it difficult to have a conversation with The Hulk.
