Various new bits of information have been coming to light regarding the upcoming “Thor 3: Ragnarok”, and the film is starting to take an actual shape at this point. Fans have been slowly but steadily putting together the pieces of the puzzle with what they are being told by the producers as well as the various rumors going around, and even though we don’t actually have that much on the official front, the film is already looking very exciting and a potentially great sequel to an already good franchise.
Some of the more prominent rumors lately are mostly focused on the characters of the new film. On one hand, there are claims that we are going to see some new members introduced to the cast, with possibly a new superhero arriving to the scene. On the other, there are also rumors that certain old characters might come back and take a more active presence in the plot. Both sides of the speculation coin sound interesting right now, and we’re curious to see what the truth will be in the end.
It should go without saying that Marvel haven’t been very eager to confirm anything about the new film, and even though we occasionally get to learn some tiny bits of information about it, it mostly remains a mystery. That’s probably why the volume of rumors surrounding the production is that high as well – with little official information to go by, fans have been turning to the next best resource, and that might not reflect very positively on the future of the film if Marvel continue to withhold information from their fans.
What could the new superhero be like if the rumors turn out to be true? Cate Blanchett is rumored to be playing the role of the new character, but little else is known about the nature of the superhero in terms of personality, allegiances and so on. In addition, there have been no reports from Blanchett herself indicating that she has actually accepted an offer like this, so we don’t know what to trust with regards to this rumor. Fans should, as usual, take it with a grain of salt and avoid getting sucked into the hype if they want to get a more objective impression of the film once it’s released.
Valkyrie has been brought up as a suggestion for who might be played by Blanchett, and according to some, this is a very real possibility. Reports remind us that the character has already been confirmed with an appearance in “Thor 3: Ragnarok” as well, so it could make sense that this is indeed Blanchett’s character. It’s too early to say anything without any statements from Blanchett herself – or the producers of the film – so as we said above, fans should just tone down the anticipation if it’s based on any of those rumors, and judge the film on its own merits once it’s released.
Filming for the new movie hasn’t actually commenced yet, and the current plan is to start the process around the middle of 2016, in the summer season. According to some publications, this should mean that most cast members have already been revealed, but that’s not actually so necessary. It’s possible that the producers are intentionally holding off on releasing some bits of information as they want to control the release and marketing of the film all the way, and they could actually gain something in terms of hype if they don’t reveal any details about the new superhero.
