English actor Theo James has long been engaged to his Irish girlfriend Ruth Kearney. There were rumors early this year that the two have been planning to tie the knot soon in light of speculations that Theo James and American actress Shailene Woodley are getting too close for their own comforts in their team-up in the “Divergent” movie series.
The series has already aired its first three movies beginning with “Divergent” in March 2014, “Insurgent” in March 2015, and “Divergent: Allegiant” in March this year.
The fourth and final movie of the series “Divergent: Ascendant” is due to hit worldwide theaters in June next year.
Reports have it that Theo James and Ruth Kearney decided to put off their wedding plans until the last “Divergent’ film so that it could already be free of any complications from rumors brought about by the successful team-up of James and Woodley.
There are also reports saying that Theo James and Ruth Kearney have come to the decision to postpone their wedding in the event that the 31-year-old actor gets named into the iconic James Bond role, of which he is reported to be in the running along with the likes of Tom Hiddleston, Aidan Turner, Jamie Bell, and Idris Elba, reports Movie News Guide.
For a promising actor like Theo James, the Agent 007 role is really worth the wait because it would be the pinnacle of his career if he is chosen to succeed Daniel Craig.
Incidentally, Ruth Kearney is about to get very busy as well with her new upcoming TV series called “Flake” to be aired on Netflix.
Not affected by rumors
Contrary to reports that their relationship has been affected by rumors, Theo James and Ruth Kearney are very much together and have been with each other in the last seven years.
They managed to stay away from social media and they have not commented on breakup rumors about them. According to Kearney, their efforts to shun away from social media have kept their relationship very much intact.
Ruth is also not bothered by speculations linking his boyfriend with Shailene Woodley because she knows that the rumors are part of the overall efforts to promote the film.
And she expects that the rumors would continue to swirl since Theo and Shailene have excellent on-cam chemistry which she herself cannot ignore. The good news is that she trusts Theo James and she has also learned not to trust rumors, which has obviously kept their relationship quite strong.
Turned down for the role
There are reports saying that Theo James and Jamie Bell, who are vying to become the next James Bond, have already been turned down for the role by producer Barbara Brocolli, cites Morning News USA.
Accordingly, Ruth Kearney’s fiancé did not pass the audition and his Hugo Boss advertising exposure did not help him bag the role.
But the reports have yet to be confirmed by Barbara Brocolli or her representative. Assuming that it is true, then the actor can now focus on his other projects including his wedding with Ruth Kearney.
With no official word about the selection process, however, Theo James remains in serious contention to become the next James Bond. Previous reports have been saying that his closest competition for the Agent 007 role is Tom Hiddleston.
Hiddleston may have the advantage in acting depth but James has the solid fan base. However, just like the choice of Daniel Craig as James Bond more than 10 years ago, producer Barbara Brocolli is not after the actor’s popularity but his fitness to the role.
