Late last month, social media was abuzz with reports that Theo James has already bagged the role of James Bond, following the decision of Daniel Craig to move on from doing the suave persona on Her Majesty’s secret service after four films.
Apparently, the reports were merely hoaxes as the franchise has yet to officially name and announce a James Bond actor vice Daniel Craig.
But the 31-year-old British actor is confirmed to be among the three frontrunners for the role including Aidan Turner and fan-favorite Tom Hiddleston.
Tom Hiddleston appears to have a lock on the role because of his experience and acting prowess but some reports are now saying that the actor is not keen on taking on the role of Agent 007, notes Movie News Guide.
If these reports are true, then Theo James already has a definitive edge over Aidan Turner and it is very likely that the producers would pick him over the latter.
A likely James Bond girl
While Theo James has yet to be confirmed as the new James Bond, there are now speculations saying that if and when he gets to be picked for his dream role, he will have for his first leading lady Emilia Clarke, who is best known as Daenerys Targaryen, the Queen of Dragons in the HBO hit series “Game of Thrones.”
There are also reports saying that Theo James is planning to prioritize his supposed next James Bond movie over his next “Divergent” film titled “Divergent: Ascendant” because the third movie of the series entitled “Divergent: Allegiant” did not do well at the box office.
Amid all the hype and the trending news articles about Theo James and leading lady Shailene Woodley online, “Divergent: Allegiant” fell below expectations in ticket sales that the producers have decided to move the showing of “Divergent: Ascendant” from March 24, 2017 to June 9, 2017.
As of this time, there is no truth to speculations that Theo James is prioritizing his James Bond role to his Four Tobias character in “Divergent: Ascendant” because he has not been officially chosen for the suave spy role as of yet and there is still no film in pre-production about James Bond following the release of “Spectre” in November last year.

Meanwhile, Theo James and model Anna Ewers took part in the celebration of the Hugo Boss new cologne called Boss The Scent last month in New York City, details Just Jared.
James and the 23-year-old model also posed with designer Jason Wu at the event’s red carpet.
Also late last month, it was announced that “Divergent: Allegiant” will be released on DVD on June 21 and on Blu-Ray and On Demand on July 12, which is probably meant to offset the rather disappointing box-office performance of the movie when it was released in global theaters in March.
The movie will also feature an in-depth look behind-the-scenes including a closer peek into the stunts, technology, as well as interviews with Theo James, Shailene Woodley, and the rest of the cast members of the film.
Theo James and Shailene Woodley have shown the level of spark and obvious chemistry between them during the filming of the “Divergent” franchise resulting to four movies, the last of which shall be released in June of next year.
Although they really look good together, some critics believe that Theo James is better off being paired with another actress.
Among those who were mentioned are Emma Watson from the “Harry Potter” film series; Jennifer Lawrence, who, as the highest paid actress last year, might find it difficult to agree with the proposal; Anna Kendrick who is good at romantic comedy; Emma Stone, who needs to move on from being typecast as the favorite leading lady of Ryan Gosling and the former girlfriend of Andrew Garfield; and Academy Award-winning actress Brie Larson who would really look good with Theo James.
