In fact, it already started off on a somewhat controversial note, and as can be expected, some more religious people were not completely happy with its general premise. The producers did manage to win most audience members quite easily though, so they seem to have a good idea about what they’re doing.
We hope that they’re not going to “jump the shark” too early and force the show to be dramatic and controversial, because it has an important place in the world of television right now, perhaps more than most people even realize.
There are not that many shows which manage to bring a positive light on the topic of religion, and “The Young Pope” has handled the job very well so far. With that in mind, it would be a shame to see it taken off the screen, as that would be a huge loss for television audiences as a whole.
But let’s not go in such a negative direction for now. We have every reason to believe that the producers of “The Young Pope” are going to keep handling their work with all the responsibility the show deserves, and we’re excited to see what they’re going to come up with for season 2. In the meantime, those who have been skeptical towards the production due to its contents should definitely give it a second chance, even if just for a couple of episodes.
