‘The Winds of Winter’ Rumored Release in May Inaccurate, Confirms George R.R. Martin!

There have been rumors early this month saying that the long-awaited sixth book in the fantasy novel series “A Song of Ice and Fire” by critically-acclaimed author George R.R. Martin will be coming out this month.

While the speculations sound absurd when it came out early this month because “Game of Thrones” Season 6 is almost halfway through on HBO, some fans still bit the rumors, obviously very excited over “The Winds of Winter” which have long been rumored to come out as early as October last year.

The rumors started to swirl among fans of “Game of Thrones” and “The Winds of Winter” for a few weeks until George Martin finally said a few days ago that he is still working on the sixth book and it is not going to be released this month or in the next few months, reports Game N Guide.

That certainly quashed fan hopes and wishful thinking but some critics believe that the delay in the release of “The Winds of Winter” until after Season 6 of “Game of Thrones” wraps up in HBO sometime in June is a good move.

Critics believe that releasing “The Winds of Winter” in the middle of Season 6 of “Game of Thrones” will only add to the fan confusion because the TV series has already gone ahead of the book and that it also reportedly deviated from some of the plotlines too.

A sample of ‘The Winds of Winter’ change

Incidentally, the author recently uploaded a changed sample material on “The Winds of Winter” on his website. He said that some fans may know about the change since he mostly does a public reading on conventions.

Apparently, the new chapter replaced the Alayne Chapter with a new one featuring Arianne Martell.

The sample gives readers and fans of “Game of Thrones” a taste of what the Sand Snakes, Prince Doran, Areo Hotah, Ellaria Sand, Darkstar, and the rest of the people over at Dorne will be up to in “The Winds of Winter.”

It could be recalled that Ellaria Sand and the Sand Snakes killed Prince Doran and his son during the first episode of “Game of Thrones” Season 6 for his laidback ways against the Lannisters of King’s Landing.

Martin clarified also the ensuing rumors and speculations that just because he already gave everyone a sample chapter of the recent change he made on “The Winds of Winter” means that he is already through with the sixth book. He confirmed that he is still not done and that the monkey is still on his back.

He promised however that he will not allow the monkey to grow so big that he can no longer bear its weight, alluding that he will work on releasing the book soon.

Full concentration

Martin also confirmed that he is not giving himself a timeline or some kind of projection as to the probable release date of “The Winds of Winter.”

But what he can guarantee fans and readers are that his full concentration is now with the book. He even said that he did not write any episode of Season 6 of “Game of Thrones” and stayed away from the production of the TV series so he can focus solely on the completion of “The Winds of Winter.”

He said that writing an episode for “Game of Thrones” Season 6 would have meant taking at least a month off from writing the book or maybe longer. And he no longer wants that, details Movie News Guide.

The Winds of Winter

With Season 6 of “Game of Thrones” off to a rousing start on HBO as expected on April 25, there are now rumors going around that “The Winds of Winter” is now complete and is currently being printed in a printing house.

In fact, the same rumors are also saying that the book shall come out this month. However, since George Martin has yet to say anything about this new round of rumors, it remains as speculation at this time.
