But the fact of the matter still remains that the consistency and parallelism between the novel and the TV series simply cannot be ignored.
A good example is the fate of popular character Jon Snow. Towards the end of the fifth book “A Dance with Dragons,” Jon Snow was ambushed by his brothers in the Night Watch, stabbed several times, and left to die in the snow. It was exactly what happened during the series finale of Season 5 of “Game of Thrones.”
Fans believe that whatever the fate of Jon Snow would be in the upcoming book is likely to be his fate in the next season of “Game of Thrones.” While there are already indications that Jon Snow would live to fight another day considering that actor Kit Harrington, who plays the role, has signed a contract for the full Season 6, fans would like a good validation. “The Winds of Winter” will certainly quench their longing for that much-needed spoiler and validation.
For his part, George Martin said that he has been busy on the book lately that he had to cancel two convention appearances including the ComicCon 2015 in San Diego, California just to get more time to write and finish “The Winds of Winter.”
