In a recent interview, actress Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen in “Game of Thrones” said that the TV series could go as far as Season 8 only although if viewers would be asked, they would certainly want the show to extend well beyond Season 10.
Season 8 of “Game of Thrones” would premiere in the spring of 2018, which is just two years from the release of “The Winds of Winter.” Given the writing pace of George R.R. Martin, it is almost impossible and so not like him if he releases “A Dream of Spring” before Season 8.
It seems that Martin himself hinted of the spring release of “The Winds of Winter” when he made a cameo appearance on the Halloween episode of the Syfy TV series “Z Nation.”
The author appeared in the show as a zombified version of himself in the episode titled “The Collector.” He was seen inside a celebrity zombie room being presented to a collector, who seemed to be unfamiliar with Martin.
The collector was told that Martin was the author of “A Song of Ice and Fire,” which many fans believe was a hint that Martin will be releasing “The Winds of Winter” in the spring of 2016.
