The sixth book in the fantasy novel series “A Song of Ice and Fire” of critically-acclaimed author George R.R. Martin, entitled “The Winds of Winter,” has been highly anticipated by fans as early as October last year.
So when it did not come out before the Season 6 premiere of “Game of Thrones,” everyone was referring to it as a major delay. That’s in addition to the fact that “Game of Thrones” has already overtaken the book series for the first time last year, so fans and readers are actually right to say that “The Winds of Winter” is already delayed in its release date.
However, the publisher of the books recently came out to say that the release date of “The Winds of Winter” is not delayed because five years and counting is just about the right gap between the fifth and sixth book of the fantasy novel series.
Apparently, the publisher has been basing its timeline on the slow writing pace of George Martin. It said that if ever that there would be delays in the release date of “The Winds of Winter,” it would just be a matter of days.
The publisher also guaranteed that the delay would take another five years. However, it did not say exactly when the book shall come out of the market, reports the Parent Herald.
The latest statement of the publisher actually came as a surprise to fans and readers because they actually do not know that “The Winds of Winter” is still on track as it is because what they presume is that it is already delayed and that it is almost being spoiled already by “Game of Thrones” going ahead of its source material.
Going mad like her father
There are rumors saying that one of the storylines for “The Winds of Winter” shall include Daenerys Targaryen going mad. It can be recalled that Aerys Targaryen was also referred to as the Mad King because he ordered the burning of King’s Landing before he was killed by Jamie Lannister, one of his Kingsguards.
According to the same speculations, the subject of insanity was already covered in the fourth book in the fantasy novel series, entitled “ A Storm of Swords.”
The reports are also saying that the Mother of Dragons will reportedly lose her sight because of the pressure of ruling Westeros.
All indications point to Daenerys becoming the next to sit in the Iron Thrones of Westeros. But the responsibility of being the next ruler of the Seven Kingdoms shall eventually be too tough and heavy for her that she will reportedly burn down an entire city when she arrives in Westeros.
However, these are mere speculations for the time being and are just relying on the fact that the father of Daenerys did just that and the only connection is their bloodline. Daenerys has proven before that she is not like her father or her brother Viserys, who was molded more like King Aerys. It is Rhaeger and Daenerys who share the same trait of better humanity.
A no-show at Worldcon 2016
George R.R. Martin graced the 74th World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon) 2016 held in Kansas City on August 18 to 21, 2016 so fans hoping to hear an announcement from him regarding release date update on “The Winds of Winter” got disappointed that they got none.
Martin was at the event to sign autograph, do some book reading, and also make a couple of panel appearances but none of those involved or has anything to do with “The Winds of Winter,” the highly-anticipated sixth book in his popular fantasy novel series “A Song of Ice and Fire,” details the Vine Report.
While the author’s appearance was one of the reasons why the event drew large crowd, numbering to over 7,000, the only thing that is relevant to “The Winds of Winter,” or at least to the “A Song of Ice and Fire” novel series is the famed iron throne of the massively popular HBO hit series “Game of Thrones.”
Some of the fans who were in attendance got the opportunity to sit on the iron throne and had pictures while on it.
Amid all the hoopla on “Game of Thrones,” George Martin did not bother to talk about the progress of the sixth book of his reputable series.
