‘The Winds of Winter’ Author George R.R. Martin Suffering from Major Writer’s Block Causing the Delay in the Release of the Book!

Even the best writers in the world suffer from a writer’s block, a situation where a writer cannot think of something to write regardless of the availability of time, information, or even a deadline.

There are now reports saying that the main reason why the release of “The Winds of Winter,” the sixth book of the fantasy novel series “A Song of Ice and Fire” by critically-acclaimed author George R.R. Martin, was delayed is because the author is suffering from a major writer’s block.

While Martin has been claiming as of late that the various engagements over the past couple of months have kept him away from his house and thus pending his writing work for “The Winds of Winter,” critics are saying that because of those activities, the author has gone through an intense writer’s block.

Martin needs to prep himself up to be able to overcome the writer’s block and reports are now saying that he is reportedly asking his writer-friend Neil Gaiman to help him rediscover his writing touch.

There are also reports saying that Martin wants Gaiman to help him finish writing “The Winds of Winter” but it looks remote since Martin is a great writer and he knows it. He just needed a little prodding similar to a car with poor battery power. He just needed a jolt to kick-start everything again.

Rumors about Gaiman, the writer of the best-selling “The Sandman” novel, has been tapped by Martin to help him out finished writing “The Winds of Winter” began to circulate when the former was spotted in the same area where Martin lives, reports the Australia Network News.

Thus, reports started coming out that Gaiman may become a co-author for “The Winds of Winter.”

An insult to Martin’s pride

While Gaiman is a great writer in his own right, the rumors are definitely an insult to Martin. And critics are looking at it as one of the things that the publishers are doing to kickstart and push Martin into his writing zone again.

“The Winds of Winter” was previously rumored to be released before Season 6 of the HBO hit TV series “Game of Thrones” but it is already out of the question now considering that the sixth season of the show will already premiere on April 24.

Without a deadline to meet and less pressure from “Game of Thrones” fans who like to get hold of the book because they wanted to get spoilers for Season 6 of the show, Martin is now in his element again when he started writing the novel more than 12 years ago.

Latest reports have it that the possibility of “The Winds of Winter” being released before the end of the year looms high at this point but knowing Martin, fans and critics believe that it is best not to raise their expectations.

TV show not going to spoil “The Winds of Winter”

While the case has been reversed now as “Game of Thrones” caught up with the book, Martin assured fans of the books that the TV series will not spoil much about “The Winds of Winter,” reports the Inqusitr.

The Winds of Winter

He said that the book is going to be different than the TV series because “Game of Thrones” has already killed off a number of characters that Martin has not done so in his books. He added that there are a lot of things that he can do with “The Winds of Winter” which the TV series can no longer do as some of the characters are already dead on the show.

Martin said that because of these differences, book fans should not worry too much as there are a lot of things that they should be excited about “The Winds of Winter.”

The author revealed one major deviation that involves Stannis Baratheon and his daughter Shireen. In the TV series, fans and viewers of “Game of Throne saw that Stannis and his daughter Shireen perished in Season 5 of the show.
