‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7 Series Creator Robert Kirkman Just Confirmed that Negan Will Bash Glenn’s Brains!

The seventh season of the post-apocalyptic survival horror drama TV series “The Walking Dead” is set to return to AMC on October 9.

Since its Season 6 finale, the internet has been abuzz about the identity of the character who bore the brunt of Negan’s wrath and his barbed wire-laced baseball bat named Lucille.

It could be recalled that Negan, played by actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan, made 11 series regulars of “The Walking Dead” kneel before him as he made his rhetorics and stated the importance of killing one of them to drive home his point.

Those who were in the death row include Rick Grimes, his son Carl, Daryl, Michonne, Abraham, Rosita, Eugene, Aaron, Glenn, Maggie, and Sasha. The major series regulars who were not in the death row were Carol and Morgan, as they were out somewhere.

One of these characters is going to be the victim of Negan and Lucille and the rumors have been more or less consistent in saying that it is going to be Glenn. The speculation is anchored on the fact that it was actually Glenn who was the victim of Negan and Lucille in the comic book source material of the AMC TV series.

Cushioning the authenticity of the leak

However, in order to cushion the relevance of the information to the upcoming Season 7 premiere of “The Walking Dead” in October, subsequent rumors pointed to the possibility that Glenn may not be it but another character.

The characters who have made the rumor mills other than Glenn are Abraham, Michonne, Daryl, Eugene, and Rosita.

Daryl seems to be the least likely because the producers would be courting a heavy fan backlash if they go towards such direction. Michonne, is a good bet if only to provide Rick and company more impetus to exact their revenge on Negan and the Saviors eventually in Season 7.

Eugene and Rosita made the rumor mills lately as Josh McDermitt and Christian Serratos, the respective actors who play the characters in the TV series, have noticeably been absent during the filming of “The Walking Dead” Season 7 in Atlanta, reports Design & Trend.

Interestingly, Steven Yeun, who plays Glenn, and Michael Cudlitz, who plays Abraham, were also nowhere to be found on the set, at least during its initial filming days.

It seems that the safe bet is still on Glenn as latest reports have it that executive producer Robert Kirkman already revealed in a previous interview way back before the Season 6 premiere that eventually a character named Negan shall be introduced to the show. He disclosed back then that Negan is going to bash in Glenn’s brains with a baseball bat called Lucille, reports the Parent Herald.

However, the information could be a misdirect in order to throw off fans from the leak but the chances of Glenn being the victim has already increased by more than 50% compared to the rest of the series regulars who has been rumored to become Negan’s victim.

Moving to a new direction

The big reveal for the Season 6 cliffhanger of the “The Walking Dead” would only be made in 10 to 15 minutes of the Season 7 premiere and the show would soon be off to a new direction.

The confirmation came no less from executive producer and director Greg Nicotero who said in a recent interview that the future will change the most recent semblance of a status quo.

Nicotero said that the seventh season of “The Walking Dead” shall be very different from the one that fans of the show have been accustomed to.

He said that he believes that fans will enjoy that the TV series continues to change direction and does not just deliver the same thing over and over again.

The director also confirmed that Season 7 shall veer away big time from the source material, “The Walking Dead” comic books written by co-executive producer Robert Kirkman.

Nicotero said that he does not think that the TV series would be doing the material justice if they just regurgitated it word for word. However, he said that the iconic moments in the comic books shall still be taken on in the TV series. He added that if may not be exactly the same way in the comic books, but they will find a way for fans of the graphic novel to feel that they are getting their money’s worth.
